New to the forum, so apologies if I've broken protocol with this post, somehow. I've searched for similar posts and read alll newbie rules, but might have missed something. Feel free to chastise as needed. Or to help.

We use Leica Disto lasers in my job for measuring buildings. We don't use them as much as I'd like because it is often faster to use a 100' tape measure.

Pros:
Fast for inside measurements, wall to wall.
Fast for driveways- stand at the end and shoot to the wall, is much faster than running tape.
Great for measuring story height.
Short distances are quick and easy.

Cons:
Red dot is hard to see, especially bright days, hard to find the target if you have a partner. (Partner holds up a small target board at the end of the wall.)

The con is a killer. If you can't see the dot easily, you can't focus in on the other end to get an accurate measurement and the tape measurer is faster. For long buildings, even a 100' tape measure can be a PITA, especially if there are obstacles. I'd much rather shoot a laser.

I've searched and can find no green laser distance meter. My thought is that green would be much better and might be easy to spot, making it the choice over a tape measure. So, I'm hoping to tap into the knowledge base here. I have no green lasers. Are they very easy to see in the sunlight over a distance of 100' or so? Could the laser diode in a Leica Disto be switched out from red to green and the tool still function? In general, is it a reasonable idea to think that switching out the diode to green would solve the problem?

Thanks, in advance, for any advice.
