Well we are now at the MKIII on this build- Im now running (measured minimums); 105mW @ 405nm, 120mW @ 650 nm and 50mW (claimed) @ 532 though this appears to be more and is unmeasured...

its key start... then this starts a beeper, when the arm switch is thrown the beeper stops and the laser is armed. The red has a 5s startup for safety (which I couldn't be bothered to replicate on the others) There are reed relays to keep the circuits completely separate and the key cuts all circuits so there is no chance of accidental fire. Which is nice considering theres a 17 month old in the house!

video *no sound*:

pics- please enjoy!

That's awesome! I like all of those stickers, Is that a lego tire on the front of the build?

:shhh: its a custom axis housing (some of you may remember I was selling those at one point- its hand tapped from a piece of Brass). Ironically the one piece that would fit my custom housing and become a grip was..... a lego tyre!! Its the single best fit possible and gives my custom optics ring more grip!

good spot batman!

forgot to post it lights matches with any of the 3 channels.

Welcome back, SMIDSY ! Nice clean looking safe build. Seems all you could add in the MkIV version (if you are planning one ...) is some dichros and you'd have a white laser ! If you could add pots to the red and blue drivers, and some how vary the green output, you'd have an "all colors" labby!

now that idea- that I like! I really really like that. I think I'm going to make another spirograph first and then a zombie defence station on the laser cutter.

but YES that's a really good idea- I now know what the mark IV will be!

+1 for that.

If you build it as well as the MkIII, it will be most excellent! The driver in a small green module usually has a pot. Pot could be removed, measured, and replaced with a max current resistor, and a large panel mounted pot with a knob. An LM317 or similar driver could be made with a panel mounted pot, one each for the red and violet diodes. The optics for combining the 3 beams will depend on what mirrors, cubes, and dichros you have hanging around in your supplies. Rog8811 builds stuff like this, he has a 7 color spiro, I figure on a labby, add pots and have all colors.

will make that- it does sound good. I also could use my driver from my DIY moodlight replacing the LEDs (3W) with lasers..... thus getting every possible colour....

I like this idea!

Haha that's brilliant. I've really gotta make me some of those "big scary laser" stickers for DIY projects :D

speak to andy_con me makes amazing stickers, posts quickly and is a very trusted memeber. Plus the stickers are 0.50p each which is reasonable...

hope he +1 me for that ad!

but seriously he saves you the hassle of making them up!
