They already have light kits for night flying and adding a 460-475nm flash light might be cool! Also a lot safer.

If I was better at flying my big helicopter I would do it, but I suck on the big heli! It's hard to fly, The smaller micros are a lot easier to fly and cheaper to crash. My problem on the little ones is dogzilla keeps biting them out of the air and they won't carry mutch.

I sold micro kits of 12 & 14,000mcd 3mm LEDs in most colors for micro rc apps.
Most had a 10* beam spread and could be easily seen at 1/2 mi.
A 14,000mcd white makes a great landing/search light in a micro heli body ! lol

I believe most RC'ers dream is to mount a weapon on their craft. Lasers > bullets.. i like the idea of building it into the frame/body. Probably wouldn't need a heatsink because the Blades would keep it cool.

[DroneWars]

just an idea...but i can see it happening soon.

I hadn't even thought of that. You would still need a heatsink, but the blades would definitely provide some extra cooling.

This is a stupid stupid idea. Please dont put anything over 5mW on a toy helicopter! But at this point why bother, you cant see the beam of a 5mW? To see the beam you need more output power, but that also means blinding people in an instant!!!

The shaking from the motors alone will make the beam bounce all over the place. Even if you control your immediate vicinity you still have to worry about reflections - these could be from anything and you will never be able know ahead of time.

Hey man, don't tell him what to do. You can advise against it. Yeah it dangerous but with the right precautions it could be done. Such as with a unfocussed laser at night. You aren't anyones mom here. People have a right to do what they want as long as it is not harmful to others.

Stupid idea? Definitely. Would it still look epic? Absolutely.

The quad coptor (Parrot AR Drone) is controlled from an iphone.

Heres one I made earlier

150 mw lab strapped to a 500... :)

hehe just kidding. The laser is not really wired into the heli, and would make trimming the aircraft a hellish feat. They are hard enough to fly as it is, without the weight (and danger) of a 150 mw green dpss strapped to it.

I used the iphone to take the picture, so yes the three items mentioned in the title are present and accounted for, except the heli isnt the parrot, and the laser is 532 :)

I just zip tied it there for this thread as I'm a heli and laser enthusiast. :)
