Green Driver, Blu Ray

quick ?, I'm building my 1st BR laser and i have 2 choices for my driver, buy a Rkcstr driver, or steal the driver off of a 5mw green pointer that i have already. The green driver has a potentiometer and is adjustable from 30-~230ma, but its not meant for the BR LD. WHAT DO I DO??!?! i know your all going to say "buy the driver stupid, do you want to kill you LD!!" , but buying the driver with the LD is cheating and its not really a dIY if i buy everything and add a batt. and glue it in a phaser gun, you know. i don't have alot of experience with lasers but i can solder well, should i build my own, bulkier driver from radio shack parts?, and risk my LD? need some opinions.

Green laser driver 3v input..... blu-ray driver 4.5v + what the regulator needs...
