I've been looking for a while for a company that I could buy just the case for a laser... like the 2xAAA ones that the DX green ones are in, or the lithium battery ones, etc. I tried contacting Newwish about purchasing the case only, twice, but never got a response.

Anyone know of a manufacturer or supplier who sells them? I hate to buy a laser just to tear it apart (and potentially damage the case in the process) so I can stick my own stuff in, plus I was hoping it would be cheaper.

Well rckstr , i think the only way to get some is to get them made by a company, like kenom's barrel but as a pointer.

Yeah, I'd like to get Kenom's case, I plan to eventually... but, the only problem with that is it's expensive.

I wanted just a basic, cheap case. Really, I just wanted to know if anyone had success in getting a manufacturer to sell the cases separately.

try to get cases from cni

Well, I sent them an email earlier and they responded already!

They inquired how many I'd want, so I asked them if they could just give me a price breakdown. Anyway, if they come out cheap for large amounts, say 100+, I may see about starting a group-buy. But, that all depends if they can sell the cases cheaper than buying a laser in it's entirety from Dealextreme.

Not yet... the guy told me they'd be on vacation from like 4/29 until 5/6.  So, it'll probably be a few days until they get back to me.

You can ask Andy_con he purchases the one's he uses to make his red lasers from somewhere. I've tried getting the information from him to no avail. Essentially what your looking for is an empty leadlight case.

Have you guys looked for any 5mW red pointers that run off AAAs? Maybe DX has something like that, it would be cheaper than buying green pointers to rip apart.

I've tried their AAA red pointers... the aixiz module doesn't fit in the tube, but the included optics are adjustable, unfortunately they're for a wafer diode, so I can't use them either  :(

I wanted something that was finished and looked nice.  Working an aluminum tube would take too much work to look nice.  If I had a lathe so I could cut plugs for the ends and thread them and then anodize it all, they would look awesome.  But even the cheapest lathe is expensive... http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=95012

But that mini lathe looks so pretty.

Yes, it does ;D

If I had some disposable income, I'd pick one of those up and make me some nice cases. I have one of those stores right down the street and often get 15% off coupons too.
