You would have to use an n channel and a p channel if you wanted to measure the positive and negative.

Oh, i think i know where i thought wrong now.

As for the meter meaning anything, yeah I know... I just like analogue meters.
also you could have a line of led's that light up like an EQ bar

you can still use a centered meter with n- channel jfet as shown here. the channel can be depleted or enhanced and the meter will respond accordingly. i googled this image, so there must be a description somewhere along with it, but i think it is self-explanatory.

I got myself one of THESE I get static shocks off light switches, elevator buttons etc, since i used thaat, no more shocks

I made one for myself using a depleted pen ink, 4x 100k ohm resistors, aluminium foil, and tape (double sided). Very handy indeed, especially during winter.

I had no idea these stuff were actually being sold though!
