I've seen Kenom great tutorial on the Dorcy DVD laser conversion. Is there one for a Minimag or regular maglite somewhere? My main question about that conversion would be on the switch since a maglite turns on and off using the head. Thanks in advance!

For all of the flashlight mods that are done to those hosts without a clicky type of switch, like the minimags....you should keep the head stationary, and turn the tailcap - that will prevent the module, and electronics form rotating....

I actually did a minimag mod and I turn it on and off with the head. Just like a regular mag. What I did was use the top of the AixiZ module (the chrome plated one) and I attached two LED pins to the bottom of the laser diode. The top would fly out and the laser would stay on indefinitely if there is nothing to press it down. I fixed this by using a grommet of the right size ;)

Obviously I am new to this and this is my first mod. I have the LD extracted and installed in the AixiZ module. I guess my question is how exactly did you wire it? You attached two pins and then they ineserted in the original black piece that the old miminag lamp was in? So basically the entir eorigina minimag was intact except for the lamp? Did you retain the original minimga reflector and bezel? Thanks!

hey DDL can you tutorial this? Just making the flashlight compatable and installing the aixiz model, not the part where you extract a dvd diode.

I'm very sorry I drifted off this, :-[ Please rest assured I'll post them very soon. I just got side tracked when I started working on the BluRay and a few other things popped up. :(

Sorry;

Okay I think I got it figured out. So, you soldered 2 pins to make it long enough to go down past the original minimag top plastic ring into the contact ring. I'm not sure how you did the grommet but could you cut a larger hole in the original reflector and use that to go over the module end and push down on the top plastic piece and turn it on and off the way it was originally designed? Could you also use the original clear plastic piece and possibly drill out a hole large enough for the laser beam to shoot through? Thanks for all your help!

I don't like that... and I had tried it. The original plastic lens will flex too much and the lens is what will be used to push the laser off. I personally do not recommend it. It is your call nonetheless ;)

As about the pins, yes... that is exactly what I did. :)

Cool. I will certainly take your advice! Could you explain a bit more about the grommet? Where exactly did you place it? Thanks for all your help! I'm almost done!
