I've had my Dorcy Jr. running a DVD Burner diode for some time now. I saw a post dark_horse had just a few days ago about custom making some heatsinks for those interested on the forums. Sadly I his post after it was past the date. :'( I did PM him though and he managed to find me one her still had and honored the price in the forum post! :D So I got it today and it came better then expected. Got the heatsink it self and three set screws as expected. On top of that though it even had the correct size allen wrench and it was in a nice little bag with a paper insert that held the wrench. I was blown away! Somehow though I must have some freak show Aixiz modules that were just too big. So I was sanding away at the inside of the heat sink and got it to fit one of my modules that I was testing it on alright, but the one that had my diode was even bigger! I just got annoyed and press fitted the thing on though. ::) So here are some pictures, I haven't run a good cycle on it yet but I have no doubt in my mind that it will greatly improve it. And yes it is high powered in the last picture, the flash just made it look weak...

very nice. and yeah Dark Horse heat sinks are the BOMB! I had gotten 10 and want to get 100 more !!!

thats weird about it not fitting yours though, all my modules (Sure & Aixiz both) fit perfectly with a lil room then w/ the set screws to make them snug.

maybe your modules were hot & had expanded or something? Or the heat sinks were cold?? I'm not sure.

what diode do you have in there?

Great job Rhith!!, nice pictures too!,
Thank you for the compliments on the heat-sinks everyone ;D  The diameter of the modules are not considered to be precision or "controlled" by the manufacture, although about 80 percent fall within a range of about +or- .005". If I make my holes too big, it makes the module look off-center, the human eye loves to put dots into the center of circles (concentricty), and when they are off, even .010" from center, it looks funny, misaligned. So far, I have had 1 of 10, (an Aixiz),  that I had to lightly press in, and Rhith, I believe has a batch of (3), if I am correct,  that would not slide in freely, (we are correcting this for Rhith). So far, I am going to continue to produce these with this size hole and hope this problem does not get worse.
I am just getting ready to head to the shop to finish another batch right now, it will be a full day, as I have several that will be going out in the morning. If anyone wants one, just PM me.

The general public should not worry about them not fitting! The modules I was using were also from a good while back when I first really starting in all of this laser business and they may have changed since then as well. ;D

How did it die? That fried diode was one of the last remaining GB diodes ;D At least those new diodes you bought will be able to put out a lot more power than the old ones.

BTW, nice Dorcy, the heatsink really gives it a sweet look.

Not really sure how it died... Tried turning it on and now I have the usual tiny tiny tiny dim dot. :(
