Hey all,

Would an entire host made out of copper be viable? I'm afraid of tarnishing and oxidation ( I live in a REALLY humid country and its humid round the year. ).

I wanna ask, how do you guys protect your copper parts from this evil ( for lack of a better word )?

it's just a downside of copper. if u want it to be shiny, you have to polish it over and over. :)

Haha, don't worry about that. I got 3 months of doing nothing cos my ankle is broken.

Oh and by the way, anyone has a cross section of a pointer? Best would be with the batteries, drivers and module in place already. Cross section like, you split the pointer the long way.

Do you guys use just the normal copper to make the heatsinks and all that stuff ( and not an alloy )?

Thanks in advance. I've been spending all my time awake on this forums researching, lol.

Most of this forum usually doesnt contain a cross section, but most, if not ALL of us understand how a laser point operates. Here's some insight.

Batteries, 3.0v(or however much you are using) attached to a driver with positive and negative wires hooked on with a switch in the middle. The laser diode is hooked to the output of the driver.

Most lasers of the laser hobby operate in this manner, the most basic. Other complicated builds contain battery indicators, thermal regulation, active fan cooling and so forth. But lets just start at the bottom of all that.

Here also, is the BEST I could find. I was looking for jayrob's super good picture, but I cant find it... or was it rog8811's?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I understand that, but the cross section I was referring to was what part of the host needs on the inside.
