Why pay several hundred bucks for a beam expander, when you can buy a silver Daisy rifle scope for under $20.00?   The main tube takes CR123A's perfectly.  It has all glass optics.  The aperture lens housing is finely threaded for highly accurate and stable focus length adjustments.  Don't settle for a 'needle' beam, when you can get 5/8" beams at aperture and much further range with one 'Daisy' of a long distance lightsaber!

I'm working on adding digital diode temperature display as there is no active cooler on this unit.

Techstuf,
This is exactly what I have been looking for. I started buying lenses to build my own beam expander, but I was sure that there are existing assemblies that would work perfect, and because of mass production, would be better/cheaper than what I could ever build from scratch.
So just to clarify, you used the whole scope for a host? Cool idea, but I would prefer to have an assy that I could add to whichever laser I want to light matches across the lake with. Is this doable? I would just have to cut-off the scope-tube just behind the expander-lense maybe?
Any further info on this would be incredibly helpful.
Great job, ;D ;D

Techstuf,
What is the minimum distance that you can focus to a point?

Minimum convergence distance is about 7 1/4". I may post a how to for this mod, soon. This scope is eminently moddable. As for an add on expander, I'm sure one could put one together. I will try and get a video of it in action. The beam at aperture looks weak, and hardly shows up except in fog, but greatly increases in brightness nearing convergence. Too cool!

That is sweet! :D How about a beam shot with a LOT of smoke and maybe a long exposure for starwars fans?? ::)

Hmmmm,,, think I may have to stop at Big 5 or Sports Authority on the way home and see if they have those. Looks too cool to not try out...

THanks for sharing!

Although I'm sure Switch, being a true fan and all, could tell us ALL about the post production effects in Star wars....

It has been my experience that Pre Production Effects are where the real fun is.
