Yeah I pressed the button ON. I checked it, and the button doesn't touch anything while I'm trying to pull the module out.

To me it feels like there's a metal edge hidden somewhere inside the host, its feels really solid.

the only other thing in there that theoretically can hang it up is the keylock.

must be one of the newer ones. Mine has a dongle in the tailcap and a keyswitch in the side. How's yours?

Yes my dongle in the end also. You can see it sticking out here:

And the key sticking out at the back.

OK so the only other thing that I can think of that is preventing the module from coming out of your barrel is the led. You might look down the tube and see if there's anything else in the way. Obviously yours is a different setup than the one's that Gooey has opened up and mine. Does it seem to move at all once you get the button out?

Thanks for the tips. Without the ring that locks the module I can twist it left and right for about 1mm, then it stops. I can also pull/push it about 1mm but then it's a dead end. I looked where the LED was through the removed button, but there's an upstanding circuit board in the way of my view. Down the tube I can see a white plastic bit that supports the battery spring and button broad. I can't see any screws or other removable parts.
