What do you guys think so far? Man I hope DDL gets enough people for a GB on those Phazor diodes...I'm all ready for one! The circuit is mounted to the box as a heat sink. I think I may press the AixiZ module into an aluminum heat sink or, maybe try the brass module from Meredith. I'll wait for the LD before I drill the mounting hole. Come on Phazor diodes!!!

The driver board has a small green LED light....I can use heat shrink tubing to connect some fiber optic cable to the LED. Perhaps I'll drill a hole in the aluminum box and cut it off flush with a hot razor....I know, not necessary...but a pretty cool idea huh?

whered you get the battery holder(s)??
Those battery holders were dirt cheap at Digikey. I found them doing a search but I don't have the Digikey part number now. I should have saved the link. I know it was Digikey though....I just got them in the mail today. If you find them, post the link! I'll do the same if I find them...

These are single cr123 battery holders with tabs on the back if you want to solder them up in series.

You are my hero, i've been trying to find a good battery holder for the CR123's but all I found was crap. I'm so buying like 5 of these next week. Thank you.

Looks like a cast aluminium box, right? Just make sure the module has good thermal contact with it, you wont need additional heatsinking really.

Thanks! I figure a little extra heatsinking won't hurt though...I want to run the LD at maybe 350mA.
I did decide to use the fiber optic lighting, here's another picture...

Nice job. This is why we post our ideas here. I like to make them smaller but with limited duty cycle. You have a monster what with those cells and housing !!!
Some may want to look at this for labby projects too. Lots of heatsinking here.

Thanks Mike, I figure for the Phazor diode, the more heatsinking the better!

This driver I bought from e-bay...it cost me 40 bucks. This was before I got the parts to make Daedal's circuit which I just finished! Shouldn't have wasted the 40 bucks! Oh well, I'll just have to make a different one for DDL's circuit! I'll try and find a smaller box to mount it in...
(This circuit I just finished is built with a 2 ohm 1 watt resistor and a 10 ohm pot giving a range of 104mA up to 625mA! - per advice from DDL)

Hey rubberband! Nice job! That's just about the same thing... Are you waiting for one of the Phazor diodes as well?
