cheap movable head scanner

i was putting my scanner together and thought how cool would it be to make be able to turn and tilt and do it on the cheap with pc control.
After looking around i remembered something my friend got me and it hit me.

Now it might need a bit more robust frame but all the circuitry is there and pc interface for very cheap.
Has anyone ever done something like this?
Is there a reason i might not want to?

There you can get them cheaper and i have seen some with web cams built into them it just depends.
