Hi I'm Davide ... I'm italian and I don't write english very well XD

So.
To start a laser you have to excitate atoms with High Voltage ... correct?
so can I use an HV inductor and apply a low voltage (for example 20V)
to the elettrods?

It depends on the laser, and I'm not sure what type of laser your picture is showing. Typically with a configuration like that shown in your picture attachment, the HV is used to power a flashlamp which converts the HV to light. This light then enters the laser rod and causes photons to be spontaneously emitted in the rod, which then leads to lasing. This is a highly shortened explanation. it isn't important the tipe of the laser ... i'm interessed only about the method to start the laser ...

No, it's VERY important the type of laser. The method of starting (driving) is different depending on the laser. You'd know that already if you'd done even the slightest search here or any research of your own. I know there's a language barrier here, so I may be misunderstanding you, but I doubt it.

Do yourself a favor before you go playing with HV and do some research first. You'll find your odds of survival will increase exponentially with the amount of research you do on your own. As far as lasers, maybe search a little here on the forum. And like I said before read the links in my signature. Once you've done all that, then you'll be ready to think about connecting power to a laser.

That's not an inductor, that's a flash tube, and you need the high voltage in order to provide enough energy to the lasing medium to cause lasing.

Like many such diagrams, it seems really simple to make. However, it's like having diagram of how to make an atomic bomb: you need to have the materials, correct construction, and other conditions to make it work.

A really good place to start is Sam's Laser FAQ, which can help you make your own, or at least understand the principles behind it.

tanks!!! I'll read links. I've just read about sam's lasers. Mine was only an idea...
I think that I'll read more about different tipes of lasers and their construction
and operating supply.

oh ... I've extracted my first diode laser from a dvd burner and I made the power supply...
and this is the results ...
I decided to begin with this!!! XD

not bad as a start, beware becasue using a diode without host is most liekly killing it

Nicely done, delpy93. Pay attention to what Hallucinogenic said above, but the fact that you were able to build a driver and power up the diode is a great first accomplishment!

A host is something to put the laser in - usually a flashlight where the inside is removed to make space. A host will make it possible to carry the powersupply (a battery) together with the laser, protect the parts, let you switch it on and off with a button, attach a focusing lens and provide heatsink. Heatsinking is when you let one material take the heat away from another and you need it because the diode and driver produce heat which will make them break unless it is removed. Usually this is done by a host made of aluminium and a seperate bit of aluminium or copper inside (this part inside is what people call the heatsink).
Kipkay is a person on youtube who makes all sorts of projects, but the laser he made was done without a driver so it would stop working very fast. You are already better than him, and he is famous for electronics (;
