Default building or obtaining laser power meter

I am looking for one or to build one if its possible. I just want something simple like pluging it into a multimeter.

I thught it was a basic as shining a laser into an LED pluged into a multimeter at one stage, is this still the case.

Default Re: building or obtaining laser power meter

You missed on the power meters Kenom was selling, those were great but the supplier from ebay run out of thermal heads so now, that's a thing of the past.

I've heard of the LED thing but it's crap and will not ever be accurate enough.
Right now, the cheapest power meter that I know of is the lasercheck but I've heard it's not that great and it costs around 400 bucks.
