broken pin on blu ray diode

i dun went and broked off da violet pin on my blu ray :( :( yeah, so i after a few hours of micro soldering i finally got my two pins soldered and fired it up... lovely blu ray beams :D for about 5 min :-[ and then the violet anode pin snapped off flush with the base. any suggestions?

There are some people who have sucessfully resoldered broken pins, though if simply soldering to the pins in the first place was hard, I doubt that you can resolder a broken one.

i tried something similar, and i think it disconnected and reconnected, frying the diode with the charged cap. It still lights, but is dim. is this the LED effect?

chimo, that thread was very helpful. i think i've given up on this one and will just have to buy another soon, but i will definitely use some of those ideas (especially anchoring the pins with cement). thanks :D
