I want to build a labsink from a CPU heatsink. I got an obsolete heatsink laying around here. It came with a Intel Q8200 quadcore cpu but it is not a standard Intel heatsink.
I went to a Mercedes automobile garage and there are some heavy machinery for cars. One of them is a man-size press drill. Because I am a regular customer the owner is happy to help me with drilling a hole into the sink.
First the man use a precision 11.5mm drill and the press went slowly but smoothly thru the aluminium. It was piece of cake :)
Because the machine has so tight tolerances the aixiz module won't fit the hole. The hole was just 11.5mm in diameter. No problem said the man and he took the 12mm drill. And now the module fits perfectly. It even gets jammed inside the sink, no need for a locking bolt.

Back at home I tried this little baby and it got barely warm with a 445nm diode running at 2A. I am very pleased with the results.

Thats excellent work - thermal problems solved permanently :D

Also, it looks scary powerful with that enourmous circular heatsink around it.

I wish i had the tools to do jobs like that!

thanks for the inspiration. Since im just about to buy the 1w 445 module from HTDz and want to run it for long periods of time, this should cool it nicely in a tube with a fan at one end :D
