Yeah but the modules I use need 9v. It would also be nice to have a usage LED above the botton. Imaging if the activity Led was the color of the laser too. Wow, I really want a host like that!

Re: Can anyone make this?

Another idea. This looks like a tough one to build. But it would be so cool! Red, green & violet in one handheld laser from 1 power source. Mode would be "Red | Green | Violet | All".

It would be cool if someone made a run of custom hosts and sold these for ~80$, specially made for 3 lasers in 1!

Re: Can anyone make this?

I think this could really be done. With a custom, well planned host. We are talking a 500mw burning almost white laser for ~500$ or less!

How hard could it be to make this host? Probably cost 80-90$ max with bulk order. Aligning mirrors and combining lense and machining custom snap on combiner cap ~100$ as well. BR=50$, RED=50$, GREEN=100$, thats a 400-500$ white or 3 7 color laser.

Not to mention if you enabled only red + green you would get Yellow! stuff like that, this could be cool!

Edit: picture updated

Modes with combiner addon would be "RED | GREEN | VIOLET | WHITE | MAGENTA | YELLOW | AQUA"

Re: Can anyone make this?

its already been done...

but i cannot find the thread.

there was also a member that made a white pointer combining 3 colors but it was laid out a different way

Cool1 I'm talking about more than just 1 host. I think there should be a custom, well designed host for this. Kenom should make it, lol.

But check it out, 7-8 colors in 1 laser ~500mw would be awesome!

Re: Can anyone make this?

if you had a way to easily adjust the power out for each diode, you could make your laser beam any color of the spectrum!

Maybe, 3 well designed drivers, connected to slider buttons on the host?

Interesting idea, but CAN it really be done? The diagram looks nice, but is there a beam combiner that actually works with those angles of incoming beams?

Also, the combination of 660/532/405 is not capable of creating white light at all, the 405 needs to be replaced for a 473 dpss for any kind of white looking result.

I'm not sure that's correct. I saw someone on here who had a near white laser for sale that ran off of a 10mw blu ray and it looked very close to white. I'm sure if you had both you could tell the difference, but it should get pretty close to white.

Good luck with fitting the optics and/or aligning them properly... that will be a nightmare.

Well as I said, this would be a tough build without precise custom parts and knowing what your doing. but if your could manufacture the host especially made for the optics/mirrors to be snapped or glued into place then it just might work out.

Anyways, I do kinda know that something like this is too good to be true, but oh man would it be sweet! ::)

Well, it is possible to mix to white from those frequencies, but it would take a huge amount of 405 to do it.

On the other hand, what we see as 'white' has a pretty broad range. If the end result is actually yellow with a tinge of 405 mixed in, the total result could appear pretty white to the eye. White is actually pretty much in the middle between the three colors, but as red isnt very visible and 405 is borderline uv, the required power levels could be as bad as r:g:b 10:1:100

Most laser attempts at white are quite far off, but its not always a big problem to the viewer. In laser projection, its common to drive the green much harder then required for proper white, for the benefit of more overall brightness. If you project a video scene that way, the eye will readily adapt to the odd color balance.
