Default 200mw diode driver for aixiz housing

I'm trying to build a lm317 driver board that will fit inside of the aixiz module. I'm using SMD parts and I don't think the tiny smd trimpots can handle 200ma+, so i'm going to set up the lm317 as a voltage regulator with a resistor in series with the LD. Still looking for a pot/resistor pair that will be most efficient. It will probably work off 6 volts. I just hope the smd lm317 wont start getting to hot.

the smd lm317 probably won't handle 200mA without getting hot. it will be disapating more than 360mW. try designing it with a low dropout regulator
