Lightbulb 2 drivers for 1 diode.

Has anyone ever tried to use to drivers on one diode? The set up would have 1 driver with a pot in a low range for an RGV build, and the other driver would be a fixed value for high power use. A switch would then let the user choose between the two drivers.

Attached is a possible setup.

Tell me what you guys think.

You only need one driver (lm317). Have one resistor of low power and one resistor for high power, and use a on-on switch.

Switches like that near the LD mean the capacitors will be charged and quite possibly discharge through the laser diode. Not a good idea. A refiniement of this idea would be better, having 2 drivers in parallel - but one with its connection to +v severed, until the switch is flicked.

EDIT: or a switch varying the resistance between Adj and Out as FML said, even simpler.
