I wonder if you feel that way because thier lasers are so expensive?

Ask senkat what his 95mw Nexus looks like next to my 125mw dragon as they both beam into the night sky.... then compare price...

When I got My 15mW Classic for WL i thought it was the best thing ecer but now that i know there are things that are like 50 times for more powerful i wonder if my laser is strong compared to others?

Your current laser, or your future laser ? :)

your current one would make one of my 5mw ones GREEN with envy (sorry, bad pun).  Your future one will put most to shame !  I'll type out a good list of experiments, etc you should mess with.....

(corrected my speeeeling errors !) LOL ! ;D

This is an excellent reason we need to encourage forum group meetings and such to compare notes and toys.

Any company has tremendous leverage whenever they can hype hype hype their product up and then when you buy it, you have no accurate way to test it unless you spend hundreds of dollars on various test equipment, then you can only go by pictures, that are usually altered with smoke, fog of other aids...... so your kinda in the dark "so to speak.... thinking you have a good product since you don't know what others have?

My so called 130mw laser only tested around 62mw with Senkats new coherant checker, and it won't burn a match at any range to save your soul, but it will pop a balloon at 3 feet.... that sounds exactly what a good strong 62mw should do!!!
"I think I'm selling that BTW to the highest bidder"

Now on the other hand..... he has another penlaser that shows over 200mw on that same checker and is not as bright as my Dragon that shows 122mw?..... it also makes a smaller dot on the wall, both with naked eyes, or when viewing through glasses and it doesn't burn quite as well..... That tells me that even when owning a coherent laser checker, there is still something missing when measuring performance.

I am measuring "for the sake of argument from the WL people" both by how bright the beam is along with burning power... because when all units in question have the IR filtered, there is a direct coorelation.

I'll tell you another mystery.... my dragon as equal brightness to the 175mw Aries, yet the aries can burn a match at 7 feet, while the dragon only does it at 2 feet...... think the Aries is leaking IR?.... think again.

My Herc measured 440mw on that same meter at times "and" has an obviously brighter beam than all the afore mentioned lasers!, and burns better!.......

So buying one coherent tester is not the all in all answer to testing quality.....

Another thing was funny!!!.... Senkat has two sets of glasses... one is green "to filter red" and one is darker greyish..... yet both of those only filtered IR and not green. He put my glasses on that I got from laserglow "which are orange" and it was funny as he started hitting his on button and trying to blast something nearby as he thought his laser wasn't working!!!!!
With those glasses you cannot see a beam in the air "at all" and the dot on the wall is reduced to a mere pinhead.
This allows very exact beaming without flaring your eyes.
The laserglow glasses took out the green of the laser, yet did not remove "any" of the green from the LED buttons on his laptop!

There will be alot less deception as we can meet and compare notes.

The forums have been a powerful tool to remove deception, yet some have used it to "increase" deception with plants and those to give false reports and advice.

There is nothing like getting together and seeing each other all at once.

We make cool friends and it weeds out alot of foo foo!

I understand your feeling, but many people feel safer living in a large subdivision when in reality, thats where all the thieves, peeping toms, and perverts prey.

Living in rural areas or in the country is much safer even though you may feel "less secure".

Most thieves don't like the long venture in, in the dark and never know what gigantic dog is there waiting without an instant escape route, that makes them too nervous to try.

This forum is still simple, honest, and very personal.
Its easy to get attention to your questions and get noticed. On a bigger forum... much of the time the moderators should have taken a vacation long ago and are very short, intolerant, and no longer have common sense and a love for the people who makeup the forum.
Athouel "speeeeling" is an exception to the rule over at WL.... he has always been helpful, professional, and tolerant of newbie questions...... but thats not the norm at a big forum.

The only problem here is that collectively, there will be less knowledge to go around..... if you are very new to lasers.. browsing a bigger forums pages will render richer learning... "if you can weed through the foo foo and politics", unfortunately, when your new.. its hard to tell the difference.

Couldn't have put that better myself Windstrings ;) When i was a newbie in the LC Athoul was the only mod who went the extra mile to help me out. He helped me with my first pulsar that blew coz of using lithiums. I wouldn't of known about an RMA number and would of lost out. But the members and some of the mods gave me scarcastic one liners (which as you all know i can give as good as i get ;D ), which was about as much use as "an ashtray on a motorbike" ;D
So hats off to Athoul if he's reading this....

Agreed, Athoul has always been a champ in my book..even to the point to interjecting and overiding some of the Mods there that were being unreasonable.

Its hard to find good help!!!! ;)
