Why do you think Wicked Lasers is such a bad company?

That’s a cool video and I like especially the beam of the Polaris when they pointing it outside in to the dark. Much stronger even it states lower wattage. Amazing

Thanks Tha Greenlander you helped me in to the right direction. I dive in to it and read both Polaris and laserbtb.
Do I loved the extra with WL like the Expander and the Phosforce. A pitty I have to let go these extra handy options..

You aren't missing anything. Some pissy people are still dwelling on ancient history. That's all. I got my order from Wicked Lasers on time and everything works great. They also sent me a free flashlight attachment.

Ok you almost convinced me now but is there some tests out there that make a 1.3 watt resulting in a better beam and more powerfull, read better starter for my campfire and pointing further in to the stars than a WL 2 watt laser?
I am really interested as I would prefere to have the best beam available but also most powerfull so my wife who is an artist can paint on wood. So also a very strong beam at near distance.
We are living on top of a NZ mountain and really like something serious.

If you want a high output blue laser----have a look at JetLasers PL-E Pro 445nm. 445nm PL-E Pro 3.5W, 4W, 4.5W and 5W Lasers, PL-E Pro 445nm blue Laser. If you don't need that much power they make lower output versions also and many other lasers. You can't go wrong with JetLasers.

JetLaser makes professional quality excellent products and has the best customer service in the business + plus reasonable prices for what you get.

Check into NZ laser laws here: High-power laser pointers | Ministry of Health NZ Seems as of March 2014 it is illegal to import anything over 1mw however most suppliers will guarantee delivery.

Encap thanks for this info. Seems I have indeed to choose a supplier that deals for me with the custom matters and guarantee delivery. Is there any company out there that fulfills this guarantee best?

Jetlasers I did not know about JetLasers. Thanks for that I will study this supplier and see this is the right option for us :)

@InfinitusEquitas I tried the edit option but then got a empty box and first the question to answer why I wanted to edit. Similar flaw I wandering against when I try to open the colorful links on the top of every forum page with all the lasers and getting a page without the information it states in the description of the link.Anyway I will try next time to follow up on the edit instructions ;-)

At Jetlaser they give you the following options:

3.5W Focusable, 1.8mrad
5W Fixed Focus, 3+mrad
4W focusable, 1.8mrad
4.5W Fixed Focus, 1.8mrad

Did anyone of you see a test of these lasers where you can see the real power they deliver or better did anyone buy from jetlaser and tested these values. 5W seems extraordinary
I looked years around on internet and only had found some guys who made some DIYS 6W versions that where not for sale anymore. This is actually the first serious website I see that delivers high output 5+W 445nm handheld lasers 

Do I understand good that 1.8mrad means that the laser beam at it maximum point has a diameter of 1.8 meters?
But why the 5W fixed focus has a 3 m diameter at his furthest point?
And then again the 4.5W fixed focus has 1.8 m diameter at his furthest point.
Mm I am really confused. I prefer a laser beam that you could focus depending on the circumstances and distance I want to use it but then again I like a straight as possible beam that is slim from the beginning till the end.
In this movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbSmGLHDBgw from jetlaser it shows a green laser on the left then a 4W bleu laser where the green has a nice slim beam from the start till the end where the blue 4W has a slim start but on the end of the beam its quite wide. How can I avoid that? What version best to buy, focusable or fixed focus. I assume they changed the focus of that one in the movie. Or is this a typical downside of 445nm beams? The 2 and 1W 445nm don’t seem to do that..
The color of the 4W is just awesome. I assume how more power how more blue color. Lower power tends almost to purple.

I checked on their website about their terms & Conditions and refund & return policy’s but no word about delivery worldwide and custom problems. I think for my situation in NZ I best ask them to deliver my order in at least 2 separate packages so its not a full handheld laser.

I am really intrigued by this for the power and price + good safety futures + beam expander it seems to be the ultimate choice

Up from 808nm till 1064nm there are invisible infrared laser beams at the Jetlaser website. Where are these handheld lasers used for. I assume with the right infrared night vision goggles you can see these beams but what reason to have them?

Any 445nm laser with 1W+ is going to have a line or bar instead of a dot. It is possible to use extra optics to help correct the beam, but AFAIK you can't get it into a "perfect" thin beam with circular dot.

445nm lasers with 3.5-5W use a newer diode that produces a much fatter beam and line. The 1-2W lasers use a diode that has a better divergence, but it still will produce a line.

If you want a thin beam and round dot, you have to go sub watt. The only 445nm lasers with good beam specs are well under 1W.

Jetlasers is very good about being on spec, and overspec. If you go for one of the higher wattage lasers they do use a diode that even with the lenses they use ends up producing a very fat beam. Visually the difference between a 3.5W and a 5W will be negligible... you would be able to tell side by side, but aside from that there is no point for going to a worse beam.

All of that said, I suggest build your own, or purchase from one the sellers here, a nice 2W laser. I've seen everything 100mW to 6W and in between in 445nm, and personally end up using a 2.2W laser with a 400mW mode most often. My one 3.5W laser sits in a drawer unused... should probably sell it, and I don't plan on buying or building another laser for power until we cross we cross into 10W territory.

I know it's hard to accept, but really there is little point in having a more powerful laser than bragging rights... and most people don't care about that at all. Even 1W is more than enough to do whatever you want, light a match, pop a balloon, melt plastic, ect,.

ChaosLord thanks a lot for that much info that clears a lot up for me :)

InfinitusEquitas I agree quite often less is more. But from an example at Jetlaser LIGHT MATCH 10M AWAY WITH 4W BLUE LASER AT 445NM, JETLASERS PL-E PRO series on Vimeo I have seen they have an 4W+ including 10x expander that lets light a match @ 10 m distance. This seems to me very powerful compared to the regular versions that ignite a match on short distance (+/- 50 cm or less)
Do I understand right that with the 4W you also can do some wood burning/painting on a short distance and also text writing and paint freehand artwork on several materials.
And is focusable better than fixed focus?

400mW mode does that mean that you can switch from 2.2W to 400mW mode so you get a straighter/slimmer and rounder beam over de whole length with one and the same handheld laser?
It would be awesome when something like that is doable with a 4+ or higher handheld laser that you can also switch into a lower 400mW modus to get also the perfect star or tree pointing beam.

I love apparatuses that inhibited more than one option to avoid that I am ending up with a whole bunch of different lasers. That’s why I like the expander as a ad on and something like the PhosForce that turns your laser in to a super strong torch.
One laser that tics all boxes would be the way to go for me.

I was on the power trip when I first started. Soon as I finish the 10+W I'm working on, I'm switching gears. The lower watt lasers are actually more useful to me. I feel it's just part of growing in this hobby and finding what really works best for your needs.

There definitely does come a point where MOAR POWAH! loses it's appeal. I'd say the same is true of my other hobbies... as I've gotten more into them my requirements changed drastically from what they were initially.

At 4W you will definitely be able to burn wood. How long depends on how well the laser is heatsinked, and ambient temperature more than anything. My scarred desk is ample proof of this :p

Beam expanders are fun to play with, but realistically after you burn a few matches you will be done with it.

Focusable is always better vs fixed focus IMO. For example with focusable laser you can adjust it so you can burn things free hand, close up, at a much lower output. Only time fixed focus comes into play is if there is significant beam correction which makes a focusable laser impractical.

Only way I can adjust the beam on my laser is by swapping out different lenses... only thing it does with a click is change output, with two pulsed, and one cw mode. Which for practical purposes means low, medium strobe, and high.

I think skylasers (laserbtb) has some lasers with modes as well. Jetlasers did too a while ago, I don't know if they still do.
