I'm posting part of a message that was from another post I just made.
Since it's buried in another thread and may of interest to many members, I'm including part of it here. Moderators, if I'm out of line for doing this; let me know and I am sorry in advance.

Maybe he'll (referring to Nero design) also be doing the WL/TL comparison between the TL Skybolt and our RPL-165. The reason I say this is because WL/TL just bought two of our RPL-165 lasers. Not sure why they bought them, maybe they'll say they're RPL-300s or something and compare them to their skybolt 225, who knows.

I would have never known if not for the kind people at UPS.
A fellow in California bought two of the RPL-165 lasers last week. They were sent by 2nd day fedex and within an hour of me getting the delivery confirmation email from fedex, I got a call from a UPS office in this same city. The UPS clerk said that they had a package brought in from a customer with our fedex airbill attached to it and they wanted to know how to classify it for customs export. Wondering who the lasers were going to, I told them that it depended on the final destination address as to how they should be classified as several packages were sent to that customer. There wasn't any other packages, just that one; but I wanted to know who really ordered them. I was told that this was that package that is going to "J.Cornwell" at 555 Fahuazhen road in Shanghai China, at that point, for some reason my cell phone dropped the call.

Now this is verrry interesting (Arti Johnson w/ german accent).

Hey - you should have sent them 2 under spec lasers ! Or mixed up their order ! LOL !

Naw, I know you probably have better business ethics, but still, they deserve it.

No doubt that these will be stuck with false labels to become "RPL-350"s and have them compared by a moderator. And if we even try and say anything on LC it will result in topic deletion and instant ban. If not that they're probably going to dissect them and steal the plans! Sneaky bastards!

Man that really pisses me off that they are willing to go that low. If they post a bad review they'll sure be getting some comments from me! Even though I've already been banned and I'll be able to get the 2.5% in the future, I HATE scammers and they really will be asking for forum spamming if they post a fake review.

I just thought of something! Did they order the adjustable tail cap?!?! They could easily turn it down and even do a video of it getting read by a power meter and it would show crappy stats because it wouldn't be at full power. Lets just hope that doesn't happen though. :(

You can't do nothing about someone lying in this way, as you think they will do.

If they don't get this order, they may try it with a middleman (who is lured with a free Spyder II, commonly known as the "strongest laser in the world" ;D) the next time.

So no way to get out of this problem, in their own forum they will ever be able to compare what they want :)

I think you should take their cash, observe what they do with it and report it here.

Maybe there are some creative ideas on how to react to a false "test".

A good start would be (as soon as it is there) to place a statement on your website, that this test is propably wrong.

Well, at least you got two sales out of it.

They'll probably try to tear them apart and figure out what the difference is between an RPL and their laser, then try a reverse engineer if possible.

Just keep an eye on their site to see what reviews are done - odds are good that a false review is forthcoming.

Who is suprised? This is probably just another 'shady' buisness practice being carried out by "the worlds greatest and most incredible-never-under-spec laser company" Wicked Lasers ;D.

All kidding aside, this really sounds like they're going to try something fishy, but who cares? Anyone with any knowledge at all will realize that a fully biased review that is probably filled with lies (RPL 300 is actualy RPL 165) that pops up on LC or WL is completely useless. Just keep up the good work making great products, and Optotronics will have no worries.

Still worth noting...curious to see what comes of these events

Maybe they wish to back engineer them to see if they can improve on the shit they are selling. I think this because they are not buying really high mw's like the 300mw's.. ::)

Just a thought Jack ;)

The only person I sympathise for are those unsuspecting laser "newbies" who are captivated by Wickedlaser's marketing tactics and spend loads on their products.

And I show contempt for those who have the intellectual ability, who knows about their tactics but still swear by their products... ;D ;D ;D

Actually they ordered one of each; an adjustable and a non-adjustable.
