I'm not gonna bother, all I get are excuses. But I did get them to send me the keys and a free pair of safety glasses. I sent the Laser to yobresal to have it tested and tuned up. They claimed it is a 350mW diode, NOT. It won't even light a match at 1". As for that ugly gash, I can fix that. Another thing I don't like about buying from rayfoss is only accepting Western Union for payment??? I had to drive 13 miles to get to a WU, and then pay $14. to send it and it took 29 days to receive it! Never again, I'll buy from LPF from now on.

I just want to add one point to consideration here.

While clearly rayfoss did screw up (that gauge, and missing pieces) the splash, and beam do look normal for a 638nm laser.

Unfortunately multimode mitsubi$hi diodes have horrible divergence, and lots of splash around the dot. Without corrective optics, there is just no getting around this.

Ask rayfoss to send you the missing parts, give you a discount on the laser, and one effects cap, with no effects, so you can hid that ugly looking gash.

This was about a year ago when I bought my Rayfoss laser, but my dealings with them were very cordial and my lasers were definitely at spec. But I definitely recall using paypal in that transaction, has Rayfoss changed their billing options?

I find this odd. But I can definitely confirm that ordering from them can take some time and that some things can go wrong.

Yup, Rayfoss doesn't accept paypal anymore... they haven't for a long time now. Which is why they are last on my list of reputable companies.

IMO Rayfoss and O-like are just about at parity in terms of service/products, but the inability to use paypal with them hurts them a lot.

Yes, they were cordial. But all the excuses for all the screw ups on this order was unacceptable. It took them 8 days to mail it, sent me the wrong laser (Damaged) and I told them they didn't send the keys in 3 different emails before they understood what I said and on the 9/17 they told me the keys would ship in 24 hours, they haven't shipped them yet!!! I'm going to email them now and see what excuse they give me this time.

I'm glad to know that they don't use Paypal anymore. Sometimes I still perused their site to see if there was anything I couldn't live without; I can stop doing that now. If a place doesn't take paypal, I'm not biting.

I just checked 17track.net and USPS and it hasn't even been processed yet! I'm gonna wait till I see that the package has been shipped then I'm gonna give them what for! If I do that now they'll probably delay the order out of spite. I see your wish list your looking for a 400mW 405? Try contacting yobresal, I got this Laser 1.2w 445nm from him and he said he can make just about anything in that host. I asked about a high powered 405 and he quoted me about $180 for a 750mW. Check it out! I hope rayfoss gets their proverbial S**T together and gets with the program. I don't think they really care about customer satisfaction. $$$$ is all their interested in and if their little company goes south, they just start another one.

Actually I have a 405nm on the way that is LPM'd at 746mW. Managed to get a pretty good deal on it...the host looks like it might be slightly small, but a duty cycle never hurt anybody.

That's pretty good power for a 405nm... if it's with a 12x and a g1 lens, likely to last a good long while.

Ya I PM'd the person I bought it from to find out the lens, if its not a G-1 I'm going to try and source one at a decent price. The bad part is making 8.06 an hour and supporting a laser habit, lol.

It is extremely unlikely that you're seeing that power without a g1/g2 lens. If that's the case, the good news if you'll have a nice lens on hand to try out with other lasers.
