WTF were they thinking... I mean I know the symbol doesn't have the same meaning everywhere... but still, wtf.

If I see anyone shining a swastika around they are getting a beat down.

If you look through the pictures, they also have diffraction gratings for doves and hearts... Do they even know what that symbol is for?

MAYBE NOT--

I was looking at a site that sold custom made rubber stamps and they had a lot of clip art that one could use and the had the Star of David listed as 'Davids Star' --lol

also I think the swastika drawn in reverse is an old native american indian symbol which has nothing to do with nazis.

Maybe they should add:
Do Not shine at night around synagogs.(sp?)
Excellant for use at skin-head rallies.
Not available witrh Davids Star.

I've heard of this happening several times before with small toys and jewelry. They've used that symbol in China and India for thousands of years (as a religious or good luck symbol) and often don't think (or even know) of the very negative meaning it has in the west. I guess that laser was intended primarily for sale in China where the usage of that symbol wouldn't be an issue and someone added it to DinoDirect without knowing.

I have an old good luck coin with that symbol.

You have to remember the Chinese have been using that symbol for thousands of years. They were not involved in WWII, and I'm sure they could care less about Nazis, Jews, and all the other history involved since the end of WWII.

Edit Simon beat me to it.

Haha, wow...

Although that's pretty cheap for a 200mw, even with their prices... I doubt it would do 200mw, heck I'd be happy with 20mw, but I just bought it (or a identical one, they have 2). For science!

In other news, I finally managed to figure out a LPM... Well, I realized the local university's physics department should have one, and sure enough, they offered to meter my lasers in a few days. I'll meter "mr offensive laser" when he comes also.

^^^Lol... refer to link in Post#5:)

There was very little interaction between germany and china during WWII but I would think that they know some history given the atrocities committed against the chinese by japan.

WOAH, Woah, calm DOWN ! This is a Manzi (Manji) NOT a nazi symbol!

Well, unfortunately most people are ignorant of the fact that this symbol PREDATES the Nazi party of Germany and the mass killings that went along with it. This symbol is a symbol (flyflot) used in Buddhism that symbolizes the 4 directions. Also the way that the points face suggest the concept of infinity (infinite realms of existence). I will face palm a face palm on this one.
EVERY buddhist icon has at least one. Also it is used as a symbol that means temple.

- Why did the Nazis use it as their symbol? Well they sort of borrowed it from Tibet.
When Hinreicht Himmler made his trek to Tibet in search for the Arayan kingdom, he came across the Tibetan people and a "powerful" symbol of the lost kingdom.... so he took this symbol along with Tibetan skulls to study to form the Symbol for the new Reicht.
Also note that the "swastika" is turned on it's side. Again symbol now reads world is in Chaos.

Himmler many say was the person responsible for the Nazi party brutality. Hitler a German of Jewish decent himself was the fall guy. Evidence suggests this one of a few reasons why Hitler even murdered his own family.

Anyways... This is a laser refraction grating worthy of discussion. It brings up ancient iconography and early 20th century barbarism.

An aside, while I was living in Korea, EVERY, and I do mean EVERY temple is marked with this symbol. The temples have been marked like this was since about year ~400ACE or AD.

Yeah... I overreacted a bit with the last line in that post... though not the facepalm of the first line:) Guess I'm just a little sensitive to the topic due to my heritage.

Unfortunately history is full of misappropriated and misinterpreted symbols. If this was a laser coming out of germany, or the deep south, I'd say there is cause for concern, but considering this is from china I'm sure it wasn't intentional.

Anyone else have a sudden desire to pickup a Dan Brown book?
