The Old Price vs Quality

After a couple months of lurking at LPF I have finally decided to make an account :).

Anyway I am currently searching for my next laser. I had this (500mw 455nm) for a couple of months. I broke it stupidly by not realizing the way I inserted the batteries mattered. :yabbem:

Dont think I want to use Lazerer again because the company has not done very well with communication.

I've done a bit of research on here and am seeing a couple companies that look great to me.

I had a package all set up on Survival Lasers and then when I finally decided to pull the trigger and buy, I figure out he doesnt ship to California.

I've seen CNI, Warnlaser and O-like and have heard great things on all of them.

Where would I go for a 1w 4xx nm laser that is not horribly underspec and is a good value for price?

Essentially I am getting down to: Where would you all go for the best lasers for good prices?

I know price and quality go hand-in-hand, but we all know there are better and worse deals out there :thanks:

(P.S. please don't tell me to search, I've gone back 3-4 pages in the Buy/Trade/Sell, Reviews, and Companies section so I have a general idea of what's around)

The question is malformed.

Good prices meaning what? Some of us want something of good quality and are willing to pay more to ensure that. Some of us don't care if the "200mW" green laser is really 200mW because it was really cheap. Some of us value other things than laser specs or cost, such as appearance, shipping time, warranties, or service.

The best place to start when asking that question is to state what you're willing to pay. Then perhaps there are lasers or companies that can be suggested. After all, there may be a killer deal on a $5000 laser for $1000, but if you don't want to pay $1000 it is no good to you.

You've heard great things about warnslaser? Really? Did you hit your head against the monitor, squint a bit, and then heard sounds coming from said monitor that whispered to you that warnlaser is a good company? Through pages and pages of your research you still can't comprehend the blatantly obvious? If so, have fun overpaying and getting a piece of crap.

I'm not normally this much of an @$$ to someone new to the forum, but when you specifically state that you did research, and yet post something so stupid....

I mean type in the freaking company name and the FIRST thing that comes up is this thread: http://laserpointerforums.com/f41/another-warnlaser-victim-61006.html

As to your question. As BB said, decide on your budget and proceed from there. Generally though, the absolute best deal you will get is from someone here on the forum. Either through a direct purchase in the B/S/T section, or as part of a group buy.

Maybe we should just redirect people to Wicked Lasers so they can learn the hard way to do their own research. There's gotta be something equivalent for all those "anyone heard about random-online-company-out-of-Hong-Kong" questions too.

Telling it the way it is... is NOT being an A$$... It's obvious
he just skimmed over the posts he read if he thinks Warnlasers
is a good place to buy a Laser.
As you posted... the best place to more or less guaranteethat
you will get what you are buying is from the B/S/T section of
the Forum.

Couldn't have said it better myself....:beer:

I will spend up to $200 which I should have clarified.

From my experience you cannot get good stuff from cheap sites, or anything chinatown!! Just stick with what B/S/T offers or contact the builders yourself if you want a build of your own choice..

P.S: No offence to chinatown!

Your forum advertises for CNI Lasers whom I haven't heard anything negative other than the prices. Then right above it is warnlaser which I saw a few positive reviews for. Most companies have occasional negative ratings which is why I didn't think much of one or two bad reviews.

You bring up some very valid points and IMHO you have indeed done your homework. You seem fully aware that you have to do a lot of reading and not just the thread titles.

Speaking of which: It's funny that the "Another Warnlasers Victim" thread was used as a search result example, Turns out it was a guy complaining about the faint pink dot on his 808nm. He thought he had a defective red laser, but thanks to knowlegeable LPF members, he realized that he received what he ordered. Still, it provides some insights of Warnlasers, (and near IR wavelengths) not necessarily all bad.

You're absolutely right, there is no consensus for Warnlasers or anyone else. I was shocked to find several accounts of trusted LPF members running off with people's money. That's gotta take some balls eh?

Anyways, welcome to LPF. People's questions make me think, and that makes me learn.

Survival Laser USA Home

We had to create a new store exclusively for US customers that was compliant with the current interpretation and enforcement of FDA regulations.

I highly suggest the B/S/t section to get a good 445nm laser. You will likely get a much better laser for a better price.
