O-like seems fishy

So I was browsing O-like today and I came across this:
100mW 650nm red laser pen/ focusable /Pop balloons [OL-650-100P] - $11.99 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

Now, this site has several other, smaller, and weaker lasers for far more money than this one and this doesn't seem legit.

So tell me this: What are you opinions on O-like and their quality? Are they on spec?
I also noticed how little info is given about the laser. It doesn't say what type of battery, the dimensions so on and so forth. :thanks:

the lasers on O-like are by different makes and therefore different quality. Those lower powered lasers may be higher quality or of a more difficult wavelength to produce. O-like is a credible source and will deliver your laser but remember, you get what you pay for ;)

Referring to your Thread Title...
Says you...

I see a lot of useful information....

1) Wavelength: 650-660nm
2) Working voltage: DC 3.0V
3) Output power:80-100mW
4) Working current: < 300mA
5) Laser shape: Dot
6) Dimensions: 12(dia.) x150 (L) mm
7)rubber black
8)momentary button
9)Operation temperature range: 20°C-35°C
10)Storage temperature:-10°C-50°C

I've always been satisfied with the Lasers and items I've

purchased from O-Like (Suzie).

Not only that, With the information they have displayed Convinces me that this will be no doubt on spec... 300mAh would easily push out 100mW. Nothing fishy about it.

Say what? The mAh hardly has any effect the output. How can that info persuade you, anyone can make up stuff (not saying that O-like are), and looking at the price, it does seem a bit fishy :)

Red laser diodes probably cost $5 of the entire build. Whatever price difference you see between hosts is probably from the cost of the host. That host in particular is probably some cheap aluminum or brass host. It's like those old Newwish laser pens vs. the newer, cheaper ones that aren't as thick because they're for lasers that aren't green.

O-like is a reliable source. Ask Susie to confirm the specs and tell you what battery it uses.

Oh, well woops. For the price though, I doubt it would be on spec.
Considering the amounts of this stuff that is wholesaled all over the world, I reckon it would be easy. That host would be worth $2 max to them... As to my above post, I was referring to the fact that if they had down something rediculous like 1.5A drag for a 100mW diode, I'd agree they are fishy. But with there reputation and the information they provided, They seem like they are legitimate.

Hmmm. Okay. I'm just put off a little by the fact that that the type of battery needed isn't specified. I'm gonna order it (Its so cheap and I'm not saving up for anything) but it would be inconvenient if I need some crap from amazon. Looks like AA's though.

You can always ask O-Like... since they are selling it..
At the stated 3 Volts and stated diameter of 12mm and
a stated 150mm in length I would assume it uses two
AAA batteries...

Also it clearly doesn't use lithium batteries which narrows it down to AA and AAA batteries. Im sure you or somebody you know has a few lying around :p

There many places to buy a cheap red laser.
O-like, is not one I would use. But I did have a bad experience with them.
I would suggest doing a search on them, using the search space at the bottom of the forum page. And read some of the posts about them.

If you do decide to buy from them, do a review on the laser you get from them, in the review section. Once you recieve it.

Good luck!

Not quite sure of which Search you see at the Bottom
of the Forum page...

All I see is the Forum [Search] button at the Top of
Forum Pages along with the Google Search Bar also
at the Top of Forum Pages....:undecided:

I can vouch on behalf of my friend that O-Like are pretty good.

There was a payment issue when he ordered his however I think they had some server problems at the time, so it was probably just a one-off occurrence.
