Nova or LaserGlow?

I'm entertaining the thought of purchasing a Greenie in the 350mW range. I understand that Nova and LaserGlow are both great companies. Actually it seems that their higher end products look the same. I'm wondering if they are from the same manufacturer. Anyways, I'm entertaining the thought of either the Nova 350mW or LaserGlow Hercules 350. Which one of the two would you guys go with and for what reasons? Thanks in advance. :-/

Well, I've heard many good things about the Herc, but I haven't heard anything about the nova 350, although I am sure it's good. Sorry but it's a very hard decision.

The Nova and laserglow Aries are the same laser. Comparing the Herc to the Aries is a diff story though, and you will have to considering various factors like size and price.

As for the companies though, Novalasers and Laserglow are the same company pretty much. I dont understand the relationship exactly, but the general idea is that Nova grew from laserglow, and as far as I can tell they are basically the same company.

Hi Medussa,
You might want to consider our RPL-325 from Optotronics.
The RPL has adjsutable diode current for tuning in the maximum output from your laser and can also be used to give low output as well.

We are located in the US, so if your in the USA too, then there are no custom paperwork worries if you ever need a repair, which leads into the next advantage. The RPL series comes with a standard 12 month warranty while most others have only a standard 6 month warranty.

The RPL-325 lasers we currently have in stock have average output power levels (sustained and measured over time of ~340mW. We are always conservative in our power ratings so that the customer always gets more than they expected.

So, check us out, you could get a really high performance portable laser, plus still have some extra cash in your pocket for other things.

Oh, I almost forgot, check out the sticky post in the top of this forum. Forum members curretly get a 7.5% discount on the RPL, so that's even more cash that you don't have to part with.

Not an insinuation at all. I made a thread about it too a while back. Call Nova up yourself if you don't want to believe me.

If you're talking about DL, of course. They know they cannot defend themselves. Why do you think they don't link here anymore?

I personally think that it's a matter of preference. Nova is as good as LaserGlow and as good as Optotronics (please don't chew my head off guys ). They all test their lasers extensively and make sure the unit you receive is well worth the money. The best I can tell you is to ask people who have bought from each, research their offerings, and check out their websites. I personally recommend all three, so choosing between one over the other would be unfair on my part.

Answer these questions to assist in your decision :

• Do I want "pocketability" {fitting easily in your pocket!}
• Does the size of the laser matter to me
• Do I want rechargabiltiy
• What is my budget
• Are IR emissions important to me
• Do I want it to be able to be externally powered
• What accessories are available

Those are some of the questions I always look to be answered whenever I make a decision about a new laser - now, naturally, not all of them would need to be asked regarding the beforementioned companies, but you get the general idea !

Id go for optotronics there so cool and the warranty is gargantuan!

small thing worth noting, if you go with LaserGlow right now and get the Herc 350, you get a free aries 50 and 5mw greenie

and if you really feel like a pimp, get the herc 400 and get a free aries 125 and 2 5mw greenies

but they are all fantastic companies, good luck with your choice
