No response from O-Like (Susie) since payment

I ordered a laser from O-Like and paid through PayPal on the 12th. Previous to that Susie had been replying to me every few hours. It will be the 16th in a few hours and she hasn't replied acknowledging that she received payment.

I know O-Like has a good rep on here but I'm a first time buyer and you can probably understand why I'm kind of curious.

Is this normal for O-Like or does it take several days for payment to clear through PayPal (never used it before this)?

When I first asked questions Susie was very helpful and responded very quickly to the email, but after the payment was sent, communication was pretty slow, I had to keep sending emails until I got a response, but I'm still waiting on my package.

Give it some time, and if you don't get a reply just send another email until you get a response.

1sweetlaser, I had similar experience. Had to chat with Susie to confirm she got the payment and asked her to notify me when the order is shipped. No notification so far. EDIT: got it next day.

Wow, you ordered yours 3 weeks ago and still nothing?! Hope that's because of China's holidays.

I noticed Susie is very slow to respond to emails, but instant message her with yahoo, skype, msn and she will respond pretty fast. And as others have said, give it some time.

If you paid on the Oct 12... it has only been 3 days...

Give her a chance to respond...

1) try to contact her through the PayPal payment Invoice E-mail address you made..

2) try to contact her through her O-Like website

3) try to PM her right here on the Forum...

4) wait a bit....:D

Finally my tracking updated, shit it said it was in Hong Kong for the longest time. It should be on its way :D

When I first ordered from them, Susie was quick to respond to my email, then after payment was send everything went very slow.

I would find myself sending 2-3 or 4 emails just to get 1 response. She is a very nice person, but if you use the email method to ask questions, it takes a day or two to get an answer.

I would use the other methods like the other members said, use messenger like yahoo or msn or skype. I don't use any of that crap, just plain o' email works.

Usually if you are dealing with companies with a good reputation you should give them up to about 2 weeks to respond.. I know this seems like very long if you are a first-time buyer, worried about getting scammed and really thinking a lot about getting your laser soon, but you never know when you have hit some really busy days, days of employees being ill, national holidays or anything like that. Especially in China they have holidays at times Westerners do not expect.
There is often also a preferred way, separate for each dealer, to receive inquiries and provide customer services, and therefore you should always try each method of contact if you do not get a reply fairly quick on the first thing you tried, even at the risk of being annoying.
I know Susie prefers instant messaging contact, some shops only respond to special forms sent through their websites while one of the private builders on this forum, IgorT, prefers e-mail and dislikes the forum PM system.

Two weeks of trying each way of contacting the seller, and then you can begin to get worried if there is no reply. Even at this point, you still have plenty of time to contact Paypal, your credit card company or any other secured way in which you have paid to perform a charge-back of your money.

I would recommend first creating a thread such as you have done to wake up the seller if he or she has been lazy or has had trouble with the deadline, then if nothing seems to come out of this and there are not a lot of days left in which to get your money back, open a dispute.. BUT only raise the dispute to a claim as a last resort.
If you make a Paypal claim, you will potentially lock out the seller from all the funds on his/her account, making it impossible for them to do right by you or any of their other buyers.
If there has been some human mistake and the problem is being dealt with at the last moment, it would also be a shame to punish a seller who is not a downright scammer by performing an action which suggest that they have tried to steal your money.

While it is best to wait as long as you can with taking the last steps, it is however important to be able to "read" the seller to some extent if he/she has responded but is giving bad excuses.. sometimes a scammer will make promises leading to the charge-back date being overdue, and him/her being able to take your money and nothing you can do about it.

This stuff is delicate and if you are in doubt, contact others and ask for help.. but here it should also be noted that some people will give bad advice which may harm your choice. Therefore, consult several, knowledgeable people and try to figure out how to combine the best of the advice you were given.

I hope this can help someone in future :)

You seem to see this a lot these days from online dealers.

You get great response to all your questions to make the sale but once your money is in there hands it takes several e-mails and long waits to hear anything from them about the status of your order.

It's sad really as it does hurt there business in the long run because even if you get your product and it is better than you expected you still remember what a pain it was to find out if it has shipped or any status about it after you payed in good faith.

I'm sure O-like and Susie are very trust worthy and you will get what you payed for but if O-like keeps getting these kinds of threads in this forum it will hurt them in the long run.

They need to answer emails in a 24hr period to keep the customers happy. Even if its nothing more than a form letter response to ease there minds IMHO.

Man... it has only been 3 days.......
The internetz is a big animal and it walks very slowly...
It's not like going to Radio Shack and picking something
off the shelf ans have the sales clerk in front of you...

I've been here a lot longer that you... and I can tell that you are
iexperienced in dealing with internet commerce and it's speed...
I'm not worried about O-like being hurt by your Posts... I have done
at least a dozen transactions with Susie this year and she has never
failed me...

Patience grasshopper....;)

I was prepared. Susie told me there was a national holiday coming up and that orders would be processed on or after October 5th. I ordered on the 12th so I was well aware of the recent holiday they had and that my order shouldn't have been disrupted by it.

It would just be nice to get a confirmation email at least. Prior to the order when I was enquiring Susie would reply within hours, but now nothing and I have already sent another email asking if she received payment. Haven't heard back and I don't want to keep spamming her.

I'm giving it a few more days and if I haven't heard anything by the 19th I will try to contact her again.

Lasersbee,

Perhaps you misunderstood my post.

I was not saying that O-like was not trustworthy. Quite the opposite. After all I've read here about the company and the conversations I've had with Susie I have no doubt that anyone ordering from them will get there laser and be very happy with it in all regards.

All I was saying was if you (as a company) answer e-mails very quickly to get the sale but after said sale is made stop responding to e-mails in a timely manner people will notice and that will cause threads like this.

As far as me knowing about Internet Commerce, I've been a respected seller/buyer on eBay for the last 8yrs and I do understand some delays in e-mail response/shipping can arise as everyone has there real life issues to deal with.

However this just seems to be a common practice with "many companies" as of late.

Not just O-like and I'm in no way trying to bash them.

I think Susie is very nice and have exchanged e-mails with her now several times.

Good communication with your customers(before and after the sale)is key to the success of any business is the only point I was trying to make.
