Jake21!! What are you doing??

I'm having the same problem right now. I am new to laser and ordered my first driver and diode in module from rckstr and jake21, rckstr driver came as expected but i have never recieved my diode. he said he had mailed it the tues. before last (the day after labor day). but i never recieved it, so he is suppose to make it up to me by sending me another along with a heatsink........but so far i've paid $40 for a sony 16x diode that i don't even have

i didn't bother looking into anybody as they were recommended to me on the forum by thesk8nmidget

i think this topic should be reported to avery... : so i wanna know also about all the ppl that said jake had excellent "customer service"? did you guys even deal with jake or did you just say that to help him scam ppl...?

When I was new to lasers and to this forum, I had a PSP and some games to sell, and I had trade it for a PHR803T diode and a circuit with Jake21, because I didn't know the cost, and Jake appeared a good guy. And he promise me a circuit that run 803 diode with two AA batteries.
Now I understand that is needed a Flexdrive to increase the voltage, but Jake has say me that he made me the circuit his self.
I have spent also about $30 (exactly $36 if I remember) to send it from Italy to Ohio.

i have only done one transaction and like i said it was me selling him something and he paid paypal, and i shipped the next day.


i can promise you i would never support a scammer. im just sharing my experience with everyone so they know both sides.


but apparently he hasnt always been screwing people over, he has a good amount of positive rep.


i really do hope he makes things right though.

honestly once you mess up and multiple people come out and tell the public about it your reputation is as good as gone.

i am sure i recommended you to rckstr but i really doubt i referred you to jake since i just found out he sold didoes last week.

i am really having some doubt about you now jake, you need to come in here and make things right.

or refund money now

I know some of the people that have given Jake good feedback and they do not support scammers, so there is no need to go there.

What does matter is what Jake intends to do to provide a resolution for the people that have complaints.

jake grow some balls and stop lying. you know as well as i do that sled wasnt broken. you should also give the ppl who feel you have scammed them some sort of explanation or be banned along with wesdaman. like all scammers should be.

jake hasnt shown any effort in 2 days since he made his first and only post in the thread. hes a little chickenshit with no with sense of what the word "character" means.

If your comment was directed towards me, that is not what I said or implied.

i did misunderstand and i apologize but it still doesnt change the fact that theres been pretty much no contact with him since his first post in this thread. i want an explanation or him to refund an lpf members money for lying to him and telling him that diode was broken. i inspected every1 of those sleds when they got here and theres no way i shipped a broken diode. the lpf member is on a limited budget and cant afford alot and i think its bs that jakes pulling this crap.

Yup, and I obviously agree with you. There have been problems off and on with Jake ever since he registered for the forum. The best thing he can do is "clean up his mess", and I hope he does.

jake21 sent me a message saying he purchased 2xsony 16x diodes here on LPF and is having them sent to me, and that he is mailing me a module, so we will see i guess.

Funny, thats the same reason I sent me blue ray back to him. It appears it never made it there, although I do have a tracking number for it and it has made it to the American boarder which is where tracking ends for Royal Mail.

He did reply to my after I sent a pm and made this post and he says he will send me 3 blue ray sleds and a silver pen style. Only thing that seams odd to me is I am reading replys to this topic saying thats what he is sending you as well.

If your in hospital, fair enough but something odd is going on. Im just going to wait around and see what happens for a bit.

Just to add to that. I know this is damaging business heavilly for you jake but someone needed to post this and it seams as though I am not the only person here with a problem. If it was something cheap I bought then I wouldn't have bothered but it is £60 I paid for a blue ray.

It's pretty clear there is a problem with jake21... it's well into the 'preaching to the choir' zone and on its way to the 'flogging a dead horse' zone. Personally I doubt he's going to make reparations, and I suspect that the only good that will come out of this whole thread is the catharsis it brings those who have been burned and the warning it leaves to prevent others from joining their ranks. BUT their is also an element of lynching that appears to be less than objective.

Heres how some of this looks to someone who isn't a part of the drama:

1. jake21 does some stuff that upsets people, nobody says anything.
2. ndrew2505 has a number of group-buy sales that go well, everyone is satisfied, and people like ndrew2505.
3. jake21 sets up a group-buy sale in direct competition with ndrew2505, undercutting ndrew2505's price.
4. In response to 1, and perhaps spurred by 3, a number of people express their concerns about jake21. This is a good thing... it's what makes communities like this one work.
5. ndrew2505 joins in on this thread and the other one, and makes a series of posts that start with casting doubts on jake21's sale (could be a good thing... warning others of possible scams helps everyone), calling jake21 out for past behavior (where most of ndrew2505's complaints are actually about things that happened to other people), and then escalating into increasingly angry and emotional outbursts that include skirmishes with other posters and a couple of implied threats of physical violence (unless "p.s. dont forget i got your addy and i dont mind makin a road trip" and his offer to share jake21's address with people in the other thread means something other than what it sounds liek).
6. ndrew2505 says that jake21 has no sense of what the word "character" means.

I was behind ndrew2505's efforts at first, but as he got more and more upset about events that didn't seem to personally affect him very much I began to doubt. The problem is that it looks like he only started getting visibly excited about this issue when jake21 directly threatened his business by undercutting his diode sales. This (however valid) conflict of interest calls his behavior into question - at first it looked like he was protecting the community, now it just looks like he is protecting himself. Theres nothing wrong with protecting yourself. but I'm going to suggest that ndrew2505 consider the issue of character and let this thread proceed without the increasingly confrontational outbursts. That way the focus will stay on jake21's character, where it belongs right now, and not on his own.

I watched this same thing happen with another forum member and never said anything... but from my own experience and talks with other members I know that this person lost sales and respect when his defense of his own operations turned into attacks on other people's operations. It didn't matter how valid his stated altruistic concerns were, or how true his statements were: when the existence of other more (however valid) selfish concerns was known to the group his efforts no longer had the intended effect... they backfired.
