Greetings,
I recently came across what I think is a HeNe laser with a power supply. The power supply and laser are made by Melles Griot. The laser is about 10" long and about 2" in diameter. It is made of machined aluminum and the laser housing is mounted inside another machined aluminum housing. The power supply has some information on the bottom.it has a key to turn it on and a green light on the front. When the key is turned on it takes several seconds before the laser comes on.
I don't know much more than that about it. I am interested in high powered burning lasers but dont know enough about this type to make use of it.
If anyone is interested in trading some stuff or buying this, I am interested in what you might have to offer.
I am new to this forum and don't really understand much about it so please forgive me if I have incorrectly posted this.

Hi there and welcome to the forums. Just wanted to point out that you posted in the "Companies" section of the forum and may not get as many people reading this if you had posted it in the "Gas Lasers" section.

I'm not sure if I've seen a HeNe power supply with a key before, but I'm far from the most knowledgeable on gas lasers. Someone with more experience I'm sure will chime in, but it would help if you could post some photos of what you have so we can better identify it for you.

Great find.
For someone new to the forums looking to sell or trade we pretty much need pictures of the laser. Write the date & your username on something and place it next to the laser for the pictures. Also get a shot of the beam or laser dot coming from the HeNe & any labels.

Post it in the Buy, Sell, Trade or Gas lasers sections.

I'm always down for a trade if a HeNe is involved. :)

I've got many types of lasers and related gear if you're interested in hearing about, just let me know!

Lets see some picts!

If your photos are less then 800 x 600 pixels, click on the little paper clip above where you are typing your message and attach them that way. If you want to make them a part of your message rather then just attached to it OR they are bigger then 800 x 600, you will need to open a free account at one of the many photo hosting sites and upload them there. They will then give you a link that you can insert by clicking on the little yellow icon that looks like a piece of paper with mountains on it. It's below and slightly to the right on the paperclip. Once you do that you will see the IMG code with the closing tag get inserted into your message. Once you do this a few times, you may find it easier to just type the IMG codes instead of using the "insert image" button.

If you still have any questions, just let me know. You can either post them here or send me a private message by clicking on the menu by my name.

The request to put your forum name in the image with your laser is normally only reserved for new users that are trying to sell a laser. It makes the buyer feel a little bit better if they know the images posted are actually from the user trying to sell a laser rather then something they did a Google image search for. Since you don't seem to be trying to sell anything yet, as far as I am concerned that is not necessary.

Edit: One more quick note. Double posting is discouraged pretty highly around here. You can always use the edit button under your original post to add additional comments without creating a new post / reply.

Thanks jcranmer, icertainlydont want tone scoffed at... Not this early in the game, he he!
So is this correct, where the submit reply and preview post buttons shown below, correct to reply to to members and such? Or did I do it wrong again?
I really appreciate all here taking the time showing a newbie around. I would like to stick around and learn some more.
Thanks again!

Yep. You did fine. :) Double posting is what you did at 1:16am and again at 1:22am. It just looks like you are talking to yourself. :D

As far as moving your question, you won't be able to do that. A moderator will have to move it for you.

BTW, sound like a lab power supply, they will have keys lots of times. Usually at least a 5 second delay and an interlock device of some kind on the back.

Don't expect to burn anything with the hene. They are beautiful to look at, but usually it is very low output.
