Edmund Optics once was Edmund Scientific, or perhaps it was that the optics was another division of the same company. I used to get their catalog's in the mail and loved looking through all the gear. It would be great to rummage through their backstock;)
They have been around for a long time and are Very reputable.

Have fun, hopefully you are able to get some cool parts for a good price.

I order optics from them frequently. The catalog is great but some prices are way to high for me.

Has anyone Heard of Edmund optics?
My friends grandparents own it and let her hangout there all the time and she said she would take me there one day
are there any laser products that they have there good for laser building or worth picking up for a discount or free depending on price?
heres their website Optics, Imaging, and Photonics Technology - Edmund Optics

They've been around for a long time. Used to be known as Edmund Scientific.

Why are you asking us about discounts and freebies ? Ask your friend.

They have good products sometimes more than you might want to pay. I like the fact that they carry a large selection of off the shelf AR coated lenses. Other companies don't necessarily do.

You are aware they have a website. They've got loads of lenses and some I've used.

A better option for experimentation is their AnchorOptics division.

Hey CJ, Edmund's is okay if you REALLY need a specific lens or other optic, and just CAN'T find it anywhere else as surplus. That's mainly because they're a commercial supplier, and don't market to the DIY/hobbyist crowd, and as a result, they are expensive.

I have ordered a number of optics from them over the years, and I've found their quality to be a bit of a crapshoot. I have received poor quality items, damaged items, and incorrect items (meaning, not what I ordered). That's not what I expect when I'm paying top dollar. Also, many of their products are now produced in China, which is disappointing. I figure if I'm going to fork over some real coin, then I'd rather go with a company like Melles Griot, Newport, or a host of other optics manufacturers.

For most things optical, I would highly recommend checking out Surplus Shed, in PA first. You can find them here:

Surplus Shed

They're sorta like what Edmund's used to be when they were still cool.
They have a wide variety of items and their inventory is always changing. Best of all, they have a good selection of off-the-shelf optics, at great prices. They even have diode collimating optics.

just my $0.02

If you find any good deals at Edmund's, give us a heads-up, okay? Thanks.....

I used to get Edmund Scientific catalogs back in elementary school, and it was really fun to look through all the products. I wasn't too interested in the optics-only catalogs, though.

Their subdivision anchor optics might have some useful stuff.
Their (Edmunds) sweet spot for positive lenses is 12mm diameter. That size is easier to handle too. BTW, hopefully you ordered a VIS 0 coated lens.
