That's really strange. We have had a few incidents over the years with both the FDA and US Customs actually not knowing what they were doing and blocking some perfectly legitimate shipments. Since then we've developed some actual contacts within the FDA and have even sold some lasers to them for use in their labs. These days I have a direct phone number for some folks in the FDA/CDRH to make sure this kind of stuff does not happen.
I live in CA and am skeptical about buying from China. ;D

btw, dragon lasers are made in china and sent to you from china
sorry if this is just slightly off topic, but all lasers from NitroxLasers.com are manufactured in and shipped from Silicon Valley (San Jose), California. We pride ourselves on having some of the best customer service (phone/web/email) around, and in the fact that 98% of all orders are shipped within 3-5 business days and USPS Priority Mail is included in every purchase. just thought I'd throw that in ::)

They aren't approved, but if customs takes it, then they send a new one.

IIRC, laserwise, the FDA only have power in importing, so if you can get past customs, then the local laws are what matters.

Most local agencies don't know the difference between 5mw and 500mw, DL just lacks the key switch and i think most other FDA approved lasers have a 1 second delay.
