So I've been told about how DX often gives out underspec lasers when you order a 5mW greenie, sometimes so much underspec that they're able to burn stuff. If I'm looking to order a 50mW would it be a chance either way to get under or over? I'm just curious if I should just order a 5mW for the cheaper price because I could very well end up with the same laser either way right? Or would ordering a 50mW laser give me a better chance at getting a higher powered laser? Basically I'm wondering if they have a big box of lasers and they just throw a laser in the package not paying any care to the mW of the order lol.

I´ve ordered this one today, $5.4 (incl. shipping) with a big chance to be a >30mW laser. I´m also sure that this seller is more than twice as "fast" as Dealextreme :beer:

Regarding Green lasers only:
DX's "5mW" pointers are rarely that low, and their higher-powered pointers (30-50mW) are rarely as high as they claim. 5mW pointers could be anywhere up to about 50mW peak, 30mW constant, though normally a bit lower than this. Anything beyond their 50mW advertised is likely a gamble, and depends hugely on the batch. I've heard of their "200mW" lasers reaching around 130mW, but their products are rarely consistent.

TL;DR: It's a gamble, but if the aim's a cheap pen for pointing/beam, you'll get an OK product buying from their low-ranges (choose depending on the style you like/gets OK reviews?) and if the aim is to burn, buy elsewhere (Rayfoss, O-Like, members here).

I agree with topicstarter. Recently ordered at Ledshoppe.com and DX.com. Both 50mw ones and i'm sorry to say this, but the durability of DX laserpens are rubbish. Go for Ledshoppe. Great for starters like you & me Took 7 days to cross the word heeh
