confirmed PL-E pro GB

should have mine tomorrow or the next day. I emailed grey, the price was a type o. you guys won't believe the real price on the 1W 520. $799. I guess JL gets the diodes cheaper than DTR. hard to believe you could have a 1W 520 PL-E pro for just ~$100 over the diode cost.

what a steal, almost makes me wish I'd have gotten that one and put the 445nm diode in my DominatoR husk.

Wow ! Just wow ! That's amazing. I was about to buy a 1w 520 diode to put in a host I just got. Matter of fact I would have already ordered the diode on my last order but he was out of stock. I'm thinkin I need to rethink this. The JL host is nice and I love their focusing arrangement. There is no way I can build one as nice as theirs for the same money. Thanks for posting that. What a trip. I already have a Ti B and a Pro. Looks like I might end up with two more instead of one. Just what everybody needs. 4 lasers from Jetlasers :crackup:

Might have been. For $899 they can keep it. I'll build my own. It will be nice enough. I have a women and beer habit to support also. $100 goes a long way

I would never do that. I'm betting they dont make a lot of profit on them anyway. Their prices are pretty competitive. I value Gray`s friendship more than $100. I already have a really cool 532nm I do wish this GB would get moving. I might have to jump ship and just order the thing. Then I can pay off the 445 and order the 520 for $899. It wouldn't seem so bad if I split them up.

there was a delay in the shipping initially, but once it was en route it was here in 48 hours or less. makes me feel very special.

I was shooting some video, deleting stuff i didnt like, re-doing it, then my batteries died, and my other set is dead. for the camera, not the laser. 26650s last an obscene amount of time unlike the crappy rechargeable AAs my camera uses. all the more reason to make sure the next camera I get uses Li-ion batts. so here is a single teaser pic, later I'll do an add-to review with some starter stuff, then later more science-y stuff as I have time to really fiddle with the BE and measurements and such

Already I can say, this laser gets warm pretty quick, as should be expected when you hold something this powerful. It ignites cardboard the second the focal point hits it. it is really a new level of burning beyond the traditional class 4 that you expect of 1W or so. confirmed it can do solder.

Oh yeah about that, grey forgot to tell me they got the 4W focusable, which is good because I have found the BE impractical for any burning, at least up close.

I'll jabber more in the review thread, I leave you with a size teaser. shown is the PL-E pro with BE attached next to a ruler, a DominatoR host, a Lazerer Rifle, and a purple 501B. normally PL-E pros can be shorter, but these require the extra battey and extension tube for full power, it can hardly be said to be lasing with one battery. I suppose you might be able to use two IMR 18350s to shorten it a bit, but expect this laser to suck those dry fast. real fast. Here I am still jabbering:

Gray was only able to squeeze 2 pcs 1W 520--from his source who was only able to buy 5 from Nichia-he says they are being very tight with these
- I am assuming others are getting them and reselling=which explains the gapin pricing..
He may have been able to buy more since then-
I think it is correct that JL does not actually profit much with our buys- if you consider the returns and replacements etc.

I'm hoping I don't have to work. If I don't I will be taking some pics. I'll even spend some time and shoot good ones. Sometimes I get sloppy with my pic taking. I've already been reprimanded by another member for that.

It made it ! Safe and sound in it's new home. My first impression is it has it's good points and it's not so good points. Overall though it is very nice. I think Shakenawake has already done a commendable job reviewing this laser from a technical stand point. Mine will just be a lpm test and pics of what I like ,what I don't like and why
