You asked about prices, and I gave feedback to you.

I understand that HFT has a large shipping fee (and I have one 1/2 mile from my office, but I know that not everyone does).

I understand that China has a long shipping time, and that is the price of getting stuff cheap from them

However, I dont think it is fair to charge 300% more (not counting shipping from you). The helping hands are $13 shipped from you or $5.50 from HFT. That is a lot more.

With the diodes, I know that no one warrantys them, I just think you are overestimating them by claiming they will all do that

I am not complaining, I am just providing feedback for you.

You're right, you are not complaining, I just needed to explain some things so that everyone gets the total picture, like the diffraction gratings, you failed to mention that you have to buy 50 and spend $20, so you're making it look like I'm ripping people off. I don't mind constructive criticism but at least do your homework first. Or don't leave out information if you're truly non-biased in this discussion.

If I could obtain the helping hands cheaper I would sell the cheaper. You don't know what I paid for them. And my shipping is flat rate, so $2.99 is all any US customer ever pays no matter how much is ordered. Try ordering 5 helping hands tools from me and also order from HFT. I'm not a big box store, only a one man operation part timer so naturally I cannot compete with the likes of them. Plus, like any store, some people have some items for less and some or for more.

Anyhow, I don't know how this turned into a store bashing post when Chris was only commenting on that I was friendly and responsive to him when he had a problem. Chris take some notes here, you will find this forum is famous for knife throwing prematurely. None of the ones that posted negative things ever dealt with me, my store, or me on eBay I'm sure. Funny not one customer I've had ever complained about any pricing issue to me. The problem I believe lies in here - some guys here think they are owed something for nothing. I don't know, I'm getting back to taking care of my customers, thanks to all the ranting here I've gotten a few more sales, thanks guys! :p

He doesn't want "help."

He simply assumed that the membership here was just as ignorant as his eBay customers.

Instead of reading and listening, he wants to "argue" us to be what he wants us to be.

And BTW, we DO have "an agenda." It is to protect and assist the membership here.

I wish you luck, Cliff

Peace,
dave

My name is Clif with only one F, Dave, you make sure and get that right.
I never advertised here, and don't ever plan on with moderators like yourself running the show. Plus I heard that advertising here is way too high? sounds familiar ey?

Near as I can see, this is not now nor ever was a "store bashing thread."

The problems seemed to spring from your (and some others) defensive reaction to comments about your pricing.

I made a statement about it being premature to do a "review/report" and said that there are places to get stuff cheaper. Both yourself and others went off on how you were a good guy with fair prices. Nowhere did I say or imply that you were a bad guy or that you were not perfectly free to charge whatever you wanted.

eBay and LPF are different markets. Webstores and LPF are different markets. People were trying to help you fit into THIS market

OK. I will grant that the statements (not from me) about you having 2W diodes may be construed as making fun of you. However, ANYONE who posts such a blanket claim here will get that ridicule in this forum ;)

Peace,
dave

Sorry. You posted while I was proofreading.

You've got a chip on your shoulder that is about as big and off balanced as any I've seen

My name is dave, with a lower case d. Should I get pissy about that with you?

Peace,
dave

P.S. -- You advertise here (for free) with EVERY post you make

do you think clif pays the same price as harbor freight???? So why should he charge the same... now that said, just like dave says it is still more money and traffic will tell.

Don't try to argue a point that isn't relevant.
compare apples to apples. go find another hobby level store and see what they might be selling helping hands for. you might as well compare cliff to wal-mart.

Unless you are just trying to publicly flog the guy. Then by all means have at it.

michael.

Thanks Chip!

I guess Steve at ***************** should sell his for the HFT price also? Man why didn't I check in with these guys first - lol

I've got a chip on my shoulder? Man you really don't know me at all. Anyone would get upset with all the unwarranted nonsense that just went on here.

LOL! OK. You're right. I cannot imagine that anyone would question anything that you were involved with. After all, you have such a sterling and extensive reputation here.

I've already wished you luck once.

I do so again here.

Peace,
dave

LMAO

You ask for examples, people give them to you, then you jump on the defense saying how silly they were. How about just "Thank you, you opinion is noted"? Instead you go completely off topic and bring up other stores as your defense once again. Then you have the balls to talk about the cost of advertising on here, when you post a link to your website in every post. We usually ban people for that. Then if all that isnt enough, you're arguing redundant points with Dave. Are you high, or just a moron? You're digging the hole deeper the more you post. Let it go Cliff, before you kill more of your reputation.

nDrew has always been a contributing member of this forum, Avery and him go way back, and he used to pay to advertise here. And Modwerx is hardly a company. All those other people are long time contributing members also. We've kicked dozens of companies out who are just here to spam their web site.

Just going to throw my comment in here. You should really change the "2W diodes" not all diodes reach 2W. Thats like me selling iPods and saying "Working iPod" but only half of them work.

Your prices aren't too high. I thought they were when I first saw your site, but then I realized your guidesmans came with a battery, charger and aixiz. My opinion is to sell them separately, then have "kits".

Thank you Ben. I'll consider possibly a change or disclaimer.

I removed the store link from my signature, even though I thought this was a public forum, I won't allow anyone here to think I owe them anything for free advertising. Just because I don't take a hundred pictures of every laser I've built, and post a hundred times a day, and play rep bump with all my buddies does not mean I don't have a rep outside of this forum. If you choose to ban me, so be it. I won't lose sleep. It will however show the type of forum that you have. Many good members I know prefer PL to this forum just because of all the knife throwing that goes on here. I was warned about the hostility this forum has toward new sellers. They were absolutely correct.

I don't see anyone being banned...
It looked more like a heated argument started by that
obvious Spam looking 1st post... posted by a New Member
as his 1st Thread and 1st post rolled into one on this Forum.

If I found the prices too high on some (outside of this Forum)
site... I simply would not buy.

On the other hand if I wanted to buy something on this
Forum sold by a Forum Member... I would expect to pay
less than from outside the Forum.

That is the Forum community mentality that was being
presented...

Your prices are dictated by the amount of sales.... the lower
the prices the more sales... and less profit..
But those prices are solely your concerns....
The choice of where to buy is ultimately the customer's
concerns..

Good luck with your sales...

BTW...

This forum is tough on:
- New sellers with prices that are too high
- New sellers with prices that are too low (because they challenge the sales of old sellers with prices that are too high)
- Anyone who points out that prices are too high
- Anyone who replies in defense of their prices (because they're being defensive)
- Anyone who replies to those replies (because now they're just "crapping" on a sales thread)

About the only people this forum isn't tough on, are old grumpy sellers with prices that are too high, and no remaining innovative spirit to speak of.

That said, it is what it is. If you don't like it, go elsewhere. Trying to impose a mentality on a community is rarely a good idea. You've got to take LPF, warts and all.
