Speaks for itself:
P.S. It starts out boring, but gets interesting ;D

Please wait for a site operator to respond.
You are now chatting with 'John'
John: Hi, thank you for visiting Wicked Lasers, how may I assist you?
you: I would like to know the difference between Wickedlasers, and all other companies: such as dragonlasers and novalasers? What makes you better?
John: Other companies such as novalasers, dragonlasers etc. are selling CNI types of lasers which you can classify as generic, while our company manufactured our own brand. One factor that makes our company better is because we uses the highest level of quality of diodes and crystals that makes our product a lot more powerful, efficient and reliable.
you: What kind of lasers do you sell that makes yours superior?
John: We sell DPSS lasers.
you: Are all your lasers DPSS?
John: our DPSS lasers are green, blue, and puple bluish color.
you: So even the sonar lasers are DPSS?
John: yes even the Sonar is a DPSS laser because you have to push the diode and the crystal to produce that kind of color.
you: You do know that the color of a Sonar laser is made using a single 405nM diode to make that color? No crystal is needed...
John: oh yes, It only uses the diode and no crystal.
John: my apology....
you: Its been nice talking to you, John! Thanks for your help
John: you're welcome

This just proves how much these WL "experts" know about lasers...

Not another lame customer support prank.

What's wrong? After you said that it wasn't DPSS he apologized and agreed with you. That's pretty impressive.

Well, the thing is, customer support are always told to say certain things. Have you ever worked in customer support before? You have a strict way of having to deal with customers. That's why they can be extremely stubborn when you are arguing something, because that's why they have been told to do.

The fact that this guy agreed with you right away after you told him it's not DPSS is pretty impressive, he's probably been told by Wicked it is DPSS, so he just tells people it's DPSS too. But not this time :)

I imagine it may be possible to make almost any wavelength laser through a nested DPSS process. Elegant, cost effective, and feasible? Probably not.

It does use a 'crystal' the diode chip, but that doesn't make it DPSS :D

That was actually just a guess, I'm not sure if it's an a Crystal lattice form or not ::)

Neither am I, but I know how the sonar works, anyway.

These people are the front line contact for their company.  Their company should train them better.

Peace,

Now, the question is, if you ask the same wicked CS person that again, will he say its DPSS or will he remember what it really is from that convo?

This is the closest to a real DPSS type 404nm laser I've ever seen. It was a SHG'd 150mw single mode 808 diode made by Amoco laser compony. The crystal was made of PP-KNBO3. The original cost of it was $30K and the construction was not unlike as uniphase microlaser except the PP-KNBO3 was built on a mini TEC and the laser diode had it's own TEC. It made about 20mW.
