Hi Guys,
I would like to make an anti wicked lasers site. Hopefully stating the problems with buying wicked lasers, taking some of Wicked's google traffic by bombing terms like "high powered laser" "wicked lasers" or even "laser pointer" and then driving traffic to this forum, and other trusted sellers.

I can design/code/host/buy the domain, but I will need lots of help writing the copy for the page, coming up with content, and google bombing.
It would be nice to have a section on eBay/chinese lasers, safety information, and responsible high powered laser use. I know that all of that information is on these boards, but there isn't really a website that has all of this stuff posted publicly.

Anyone interested?

Every ounce of energy put into building and maintaining this website would be better spent learning how to build or building quality lasers.

It is, of course, your energy to expend in whatever endeavor you desire.  It remains my opinion that it would be wasted energy.  If it is important to you, certainly you should do it.  There is very little more frustrating than a quest left untried.  However, don't be hurt by others' lack of enthusiasm for the project.

Also, be mindful of libel.

Perhaps a review site about lasers? You can't be sued for defamation if the review are written by other people...

Wicked lasers might try to push for a libel suit if they feel they have a case against you. Regardless of whether or not they are successful, it will still cost you a bit for lawyer fees and such. By creating a review site for lasers, you are not and cannot responsible for what people say about a company. If you create a site for the sole purpose of undermining a company's reputation, you are asking for legal problems...

i think as long as he tells the truth about wicked lasers and doesn't lie he cant be sued for telling the truth, also don't outright say WICKED LASERS SUCKS, I'm sure they would come up with something to sue you for if you did that. also google shoots out wicked lasers first because wicked pays them to, sure you can get your sites listed under the google search engine but some sits pay more to get higher up on the relativity list.

also in the good nature of Anti industry i would like to point out a personal favorite of mine:
www.anythingbutipod.com

on top of everything said, don't do it, its a waste of time and money, especially if it doesn't make you anything its all really just money lost for no real reason

I agree with the posts already stated. I think that maybe a laser company review site would be a good idea, and there could be plenty of Wicked-bombing, but it would also give good alternatives and reasons why. This would be more productive in the end, and there wouldn't be nearly as much potential for a lawsuit.

I think this is a good idea for someone who is VERY passionate about "attacking the beast" (a previous thread about WL being so bad). I think that if it means that much to you, and you feel you are being an honorable, righteous man by fighting for what you believe in, then by all means you should do all you can to fulfill your goal. Just know, that whenever you decide to pick a battle, that it could turn into a long lasting war that could leave you in a worse place then you were before. But that's the whole point of battle, 2 sides. WL is a well-established company and I'm pretty sure they will defend, and attack back. Like William Wallace, he fought for his cause but the enemy would just never stop until he was dead, granted he was betrayed by a trusted ally, but all's fair in love and war.

In addition, I doubt that there will be much support from the members here at LPF, because they might not share the same degree of passion as you do. So I advise you check your passions, your priorities, and your desires, because if you decide to do it you'll need to go all or nothing, do or die. I personally would NOT invest a single minute of my energy toward actually "attacking the beast", because I would much rather build lasers, play video games, hang out with friends, work, or just chill out and do absolutely nothing. But that's just me. For you, it must sound like an excellent idea, I even thought of it myself as a fantasy, no body else made up William Wallace’s' mind about revolting, he did it all by himself, and found some followers along the way.

thats true that is i a part of a site where laser reviews can be found, but this would be a website that rates and reviews other websites, if he wanted to organize it by websites, or brands and then do sub topics where individual reviews on specific products can be found, then they would be one thing. basically he could make a website that was the LPF reviews section only way more organized

Not only more organized, but seo friendly. I know laserpointerforums has been doing much better lately. But if a noobie wants info on where to buy a high powered laser, chances are he's going to hit wickedlaser or one of their fake lasercommunities before he hits LPF. That's just wrong IMO. If someone wants a high powered green laser, they should be reading up on IR, reviews, and safety information, insight from laser hobbiests and not wickedlasers and the other seo friendly crap sites.

Obviously, an anti-wicked laser site would be stupid. And I shouldn't have proposed it that way. but maybe an SEO laser website with organized reviews, safety information, and relative links that a noob can easily see, rather than searching through forums.

Better. Just accept that you have just accepted an unpaid, part-time job ;)
