There are 2 major kinds of AixiZ modules. One is available as blanks, and the other is only available with a diode. Both are capable of holding the standard 5.6mm Laser Diode package. I know for a fact that the chrome plated module is in fact available with a glass collimating lens, I am unsure about the brass module and have personally not seen them with glass collimating lenses.

Either way, these are both highly recommended modules for any LD module needs, and AixiZ has given me a very positive customer service experience. I personally recommend them to anyone looking to purchase laser modules.

Now for a side-by-side shot...

Decided to cover the table to make it easier to see things...

And this is a shot of the LD in place, you can also see the collimating lens on the far side...

I was just gonna start a topic like this cause I'm getting a couple of their products in a few days! But those are some great pictures, after you took it apart was it easy to put back together? Did static kill the diode or was it just fine?

Thank you very much, I have some more coming in a little while. :)

They're really easy to put back together and the modules are very well machined. The didoes that are in there are the cheap 5mW reds. I'm not worried about them. I never had a problem with any other diodes I put in there.

Hey Daedal --

Duh, how dos' a guy read one of dem numbery things that look like a wrench ??? ;D Aintcha got one of da new digiteyal ones ::)

Those small modules are real nice for one cell flashlight projects - just add plenty of heatsinking.

Wow, I didn't realize how much bigger the chrome modules are. Thanks for the pics. I am definitely going to have to order some brass modules from him to try out. They seem very popular and I am beginning to feel left out because I don't have any..lol.

I just ordered my little modules just to play around with, not to put in a new diode. In the order I got got one of their 5mW 635nm modules so I'll see how that looks. I've never even seen a 635nm laser before so it will be fun to do some brightess comparisons with my greenie and the 650nm lasers I also purchased from them.
