Has anyone had experience with the 100mW module with TTL and analog?
I am building a scanner with analog modulation and was thinking of picking up one of these aixiz.com StoreFront . That 50mW module is a great deal but I'm hung up on the analog modulation and I don't want to change out the driver on the 50mW.

^You'd do better getting the o-like TTL/TEC module. It doesn't have analog, but neither does that Aixiz unless you pay extra for it. $190 is expensive for an off-brand 100mW green lab-style. Also, keep in mind that analog modulation is considerably slower than TTL in most cases. You should be fine if you are using 20-30k scanners, but anything higher than that and you need either TTL or you could probably get away with running a Flexmod. I'm fairly certain that they are capable of handling analog up to a very high frequency.

I found this old thread in a search...

Yes, Dr. Maricle was very good to me, The first 50mw unit arrived, it was weak and un-impressive, Dr. Maricle immediately sent a replacement via fed ex.

He also let me keep the faulty unit.

I will certainly be buying from Aixis again.

BTW - I have no way to test yet, but the 50mw laser punches holes through disposable plastic cups in about 2 seconds flat. That alone indicates that it is running over spec.

I can light up the trees on the hill behind my house with this laser!

Here it is, I used an old HP printer supply housing for the PCB.

Does the PCB get too hot being enclosed like that? Or are there vent holes we can not see in ur photo? Is the laser attached to ur housing or is it just sitting on top of it? thanx --hak

There is so much room in that box, the PCB has plenty of air, besides the current draw for the diode is quite small, AND there is an aluminum heat sink on the regulator.

The laser head is attached with 3 screws, The bottom of the laser head has tapped holes, so attaching was easy. (I need to slot the holes so I can line the head up better)

Everything is screwed down or zip tied in place, no loose wires or anything like that.

There is 3 screws holding the cover on the box, once I took them out, the guts fell right out.

I salvaged the female power cord receptacle, the standoffs and grommet, everything else hit the trash.

I've never bought an actual laser from them. I but all my modules from them though....most of the time it's great service (usually better if you buy from ebay instead of teir webstore) Although i have had a couple of problems in the past, but they all got fixed...usually was when they back ordered modules and then forgot to send them to me.

Right now they are out of lens nuts, but are still sending modules. So they owe me 40 lens nuts, I hope they remember to send them

I suggest anyone with an issue with AixiZ send them an email as they may not know whats up in your case. They do a LOT of biz and sometime things get misplaced. BTW Chuck tells me that he sends out an average of 10,000 12X30 blank modules EVERY two months worlwide and that has been going on for a LONG time!! good people and excellant service after the sale too---hak

I totally agree, Axixz is great! I have 2 of the 50 mW lab lasers, and I am on my 6th or so order of the blank modules, one little problem though, I have gone 2X around asking for the focus rings, Chuck sent 10 more modules without focus rings, so the second time I sent a picture, but Chuck just says "They should be in there" Like I would not know what I got? Anybody got spare focus rings? -Glenn
