Oh sure, send him to the worst possible laser company, that's real helpful.

@op
Give us some more details on what exactly you're after or what you intend to do with it. Also if you are looking for any specific colors or just for burning power.

The 445nm(blue) are the best bet atm for burning power and generally can be found between 1-2w, anything above that isn't very realistic yet. About the highest handheld we have seen is the Frankenstien build at about 2w which was pushing the diode pretty hard. Anything over that will most likely need multiple diodes at this point which I don't believe is feasible for a handheld build.

Do a search in the BST section and you don't want to buy anything from Wicked Lasers, unless you want to wait for 3 yo 4 months and then have a chance of getting it confiscated by customs.

This was more to make a stronger point to that which I have seen more increasingly here on the forums. Even a simple search on google would have answered the question...and LPF being a wealth of information on companies and DIY lasers again the question could have been answered.
I and many others READ for weeks before even joining and presented ourselves in the Welcome area and not just with a '...I want a powerful, dangerous laser...'
Seems to me wicked lasers is a good place to start and he can read for months on end while his laser comes....and maybe even make his own and join the community.

I agree. I should have done more searching and I apologize. I have been a member on a lot of forums just never a laser forum. I am very new to lasers. I have already learned a lot in the last few days.

Why do you say multiple diodes aren't very feasible in a hand held unit, just size?

I would think someone would be willing to take some crazy project on especially if it was all financed : )

You need to read about the methods of combining two or more lasers and your question will be answered.

if you are willing to pay me about 1000$ i will make you a 4w laser, it might be portable. but will need one huge shaft to fit the needed powersource.
Or just make it a car plug.

We like it when newcomers post in the welcome section-- tell us a little about your self-- where you are located- your experience with lasers- your occupation etc-- we can help you better if we know more..you have lots of homework to do on your own IMO. Starting out with such a powerful laser is not a great idea- regardless if you can afford it.

also you need protective eyeware first.

we all want to be safe and legal....

welcome---hk

You mean a few months wait will give him time to read up on lasers? :D
You are an evil man. ;)
