i just put this together using an ssy-1 aug style airsoft gun a lighter peizo and a capacitor bank / camera charger thingy.

it works great i do have to teak the design a bit after putting it into the AUG but it should be working again soon, as for a video the ssy-1 is not a very photogenic laser but when its working ill try and get a video.
oh and yes it is indeed a ruby laser

yup it blasts the metal of a cd and punches holes in aluminum foil its also suposed to be able to do air breakdown... haven't quite been able to do that

thanks for the welcome i have actually been here for a while just never very active, i'm trying to fix that :)

thanks the main problem is the lighter peizo i can get a video using a Tesla coil to trigger it ill eventually use the PFN1 and trigger assembly that was made for the ssy1 as soon as i figurer out how to hook those things up i would also need a portable capacitor charger for it

any way if you don't mind the Tesla in the way i can make a video now

My SSY-1 is a NdYAG laser. Did yours come with ruby? That would be nice to have a RED !!!! I've done air breakdown using a 2" FL lens. It chipped the glass on both sides!
Be real sure to protect your eyes with that laser. It can peak near 1 MW!

no its nd:yag to sorry i tend to confuse the two. i have three pairs of safety glasses just in case my friends enjoy there eyesight :D

um uh oh... i dropped it and now i'm getting like no power from it

the front optic mount thing is bent pretty bad i hear aligning the optics on these things is near impossible any one have suggestions? i am able to use a 3d printer if that could help

I'll waiting for a video, I'm just curious :) Anyway I think that will be difficult to see a beam like this in a movie, the pulse is to short for a standard video camera, but will be nice ;)
