fair enough, im just going to run 2 in parrallel (3x space permitting) to get the desired current :)

oy i just parrelled 2 of these drivers and the current didn't double?

do you know what would be going on there?

BTW this 9mm 808nm is intense in a handheld :)

You have to build the circuits separately. You can't use the same sense resistor, etc. I tried that at first and it didn't work. You have to build, quite literally, a duplicate of the circuit and just connect the outputs and inputs.

hmmm fair enough, i LPM'd the build atm and it was doing like 150mW which i thought was too low for what im putting in.

Maybe them both in parrallel means that they are 'fighting' each other.

the beam is visable to my night vision at this power which is nice but i think it can be pushed a lot more with a bigger driver.

have you built one yet?

Yeah - my IR laser (with this driver) works fine.

Basically, just build two of the circuits, each with an output of 650mA (at least for my diode), and then just connect the inputs and outputs. And make sure you have enough overhead, because you are gonna need a lot of overhead for this setup.

if you use a LM317T constant current driver style:
LM317-1.png

Vref/R1 = Iout

1.25V/1ohm = 1.25A.

Look alright?

then for the power dissipation would be IxV so Vref x Iout = 1.5625W's

therefore use a 2W 1ohm resistor?

Any problem with that?

Well, the problem is that we are trying to use LM1117s and use it current sink style. Here, lemme draw you a schematic of what I mean.
