So I bought the 150 mW labby from ultralasers.com, laser was a bit heavier than I imagined (my first labby)

Opened the box straight from canada, (arrived in 3 days, excellent shipping) and grabbed the parts. I noticed the power cord, no plug. Just three wires. One Brown, the next Blue, and the third Yellow with a green line. On these there are 3 stickers: L, N, and E. I... Have no idea what these stand for. Looking on the interwebs, I found some info saying its European wiring. It tells me Brown is positive, blue is negative, and Yellow/green is ground. Can someone confirm that for me so I dont fry the power supply while hooking this up to a plug?

Also, more pics of the laser in case anyone is interested/needs more info. ImageShack Album - 6 images

yellow-green is the ground, the other two wires are for AC, their position is indifferent :)

Brown is Line (connect to the bigger sized rectangle hole in your wall socket)

Blue is neutral (connect to the smaller rectangle hole)

Yellow is ground

Edit: Wire it up to one of these

Then you can use a computer cable to plug it in

Re: New DHOM 473nm Labby

Well the store was closed, and there's nothing I'm prepared to tear apart in order to plug this in. So I'll be heading out to the local hardware store tomorrow at 9 to 10 AM US Eastern time, the store is surprisingly open then.

Any suggestions for a first video? (please don't say night shots being I'll have it first thing in the morning ;))

Edit: @Misanthrop The color is amazing, I had a viasho portable one at one point (that died due to some unfortunate circumstances)... That at least motivated me to buy this :D

I dont have any spares I think, Although there is that one old bag full of my old solder kits... and computer parts... I'll take a quick look through the garage for it. I'm still pretty certain there wont be any in there though. (gah excuses, I sound pathetic)

Couldn't you just stick the bare wires in the outlet? It would be pretty much the SAME as buying a cord... except alot little more dangerous.

I found the bag, no cord, but I did find my good soldering iron and a decent host for hopefully a DIY.

And I could do that jefferythe00 but, uh bad things happened to me when I did that in the past (plugging in a fan I believe), burnt the wall up to about 5 inches above the outlet

Just a guess: I did... Tripped the circuit breaker.
Right now I wish I hadnt painted over it... or at least I shouldve taken a picture of it.
Im wondering if I even need the ground wire for now, theres no storms in the area or anything... And there IS a fan that is broken (different fan) in my room with a 2 prong plug.

Re: New DHOM 473nm Labby

Just find out whats what and connect everything up.

Ground should be at the bottom of your wall outlet, derr, all you need to find out is + and - :D

I would take a guess but I don't want you burnin up your wall again.

Use a surge protector. When I play with the mains I use rubber gloves, a surge protector and tape. :)

Also if your not comfortable doing what I suggested then by all means don't. I don't want to see you or anyone else get hurt. :)
