Hey all, does anyone on here know where one may purchase or acquire IR and/or UV diodes, preferable already installed in the aixiz housing? Thanks in advance.

Look around on ebay, or in this forum, perhaps in buy, sell, trade. Some of our members provide these services. By UV I'm assumong that you mean 405nm blurays ...

No, I mean 355 or 266 wavelength, pure UV and invisible. eBay seems kind of expensive as far as laser diodes go...

There are no 266nm diodes, only DPSS or excimer. You can get 355nm, but I would be wary of UV lasers. Around 350nm and lower they become carcinogenic.

Any idea on where I can obtain such a diode? I searched eBay and google to no avail.

if you just want an invisible laser, forget about UV, IR diodes are powerfull and cheap!

I know, but I want one of every type, including both IR and UV. Also, all of the IR sellers seem to be located out side of the US...know anyone that sells here? Thanks.

if you just want anything IR for your collection, ask a member here to build you a laser (or just an aixiz) with the 750nm IR diode from a sled. these normally go to the bin, they are powerful and dangerous, i wouldnt recommend more than a dozen mw. invisible lasers are pretty useless and dangerous, but since you must have it.. ;-)
wait, perhaps you should go with a 750nm *reading* diode.
if it should *really* be invisible, even 808nm (the most common IR diode wavelength) is too visible, as a real deep cherry red. much less visible than 750nm, but still. there are diodes around 900nm, that would be totally invisible, and maximum dangerous.

for UV, forget it if you dont want to spend some grands. they do exist, but perhaps not even in "home-useable" laserdiodesize. probably not even singlemode. and definitely not invisible! blu-ray diodes emit whitish-yellowish "noise", which is well visible once you block the 405nm light. expect much more noise from real uv diodes, since they are lower wavelength, newer and even harder to produce. you probably wouldnt even like the pricetag on a lens suitable for real uv lasers.. in the hundreds.. ;-)

Direct from Nichia (or another blu-ray manufacturer) would be my only suggestion to you, but believe me when I say that it will not be cheap..

Very, very interesting. Thanks for the info and the enlightenment! Guess I will have to wait some time for prices to drop! :san:

You will not find UV laser diodes. They don't exist at the moment and would probably be hideously inefficient and weak. If you're really bent on UV, look around ebay for DPSS 355nm lasers.

I think this is the more UV-like diode existing actually (at least, as far as i know)

http://www.nichia.com/specification/ld/NDU1113E-E.pdf

But, as you can see from the "engineer sample" indication, they are still at study stage ..... and, knowing Nichia, i think you need to sell a lung, or win a lottery, for get some of them :D

The GaN laser diode produces output from 350-520?nm. They do exist, but they are hard to find in the UV, so they're quite expensive.

^ Exact, that one is a GaN 20mW "pure" 375nm LD ..... and, probably, they ask you 500$ or more each one :p

I'm about to order some 850nm from lasermate at a company discount. They are a company based in Calif so you might be able to order from them.
