howmuch mW for equal brightness?

hi
i wanted to ask howmuch mW of blue 445nm i need to equal the brightness of a 300 mW green 532 nm
to have them like same brightness

I have to say that my 2.7W 445nm overpowers my 300mW 532nm by a reasonable amount. Some peoples sensitivity to certain wavelengths are different than others. That calculator is WAY off for other wavelengths for me as well. Just like how my 650nm 315mW laser appears roughly 3x as bright as my 630mW 405nm while the calculator thinks I would need over 7.5W of 405nm to be equal. I know that I see 405nm quite well compared to some people so everyone is different.

I think the human eyes is already saturated by the amount of light from the dot. You will need some kind of a lux meter to measure the brightness.

Well that is the question. Everyone is perceiving colors differently. The brightness is different for everyone.

It'll depend on your lighting conditions too. If your eyes are dark-adjusted, the blue will look brighter than if your eyes are light-adjusted.

Anyway, you can look at the tables here and see. The "lm/W" is the amount of perceived brightness to the amount of power. So you can equalize the ratios to see how many Watts you need of one to match the other.

keep the beams in balance as much as possible
brightness is different to everyone but not by much i hope?
would 1mW of blue be enough?

edit: i have no idea whats on that page of tables :undecided:

you pretty much wouldn't see 1mW of 445nm at all. Green is one of the best visible wavelengths around so for any other wavelength to be equal to it you will need more power.

Perceived brightnesses of colors does vary person to person pretty drastically. So it really is hard to say. I would think a 1.5W 445nm would balance ok with 300mW of 532nm but that is based on my perception only.

looking at diff, wavelengths one at a time is way different than more than one.

If you get a chance to use a DPSS 532 in the presence of an argon SL or ML you will be surprized to see your green laser turn to almost yellow- wierd!!

My 1.2W 445nm is the same brightness to me as my 400mW 532nm when it is warmed up and batteries are fully charged.
