What's the word on these, Jordan? Did they respond yet?

I would really like to see affordable 488nm diodes too.
Hopefully it is not a typo. A possible use would be as a light source in confocal microscopy. Argon laser are usually used there. However I don't think this would be worth mass producing them.

this can't be legit, can it? I first saw the thread title and thought 'yeah yeah, just another Chinese distributor mislabelling a 450 diode.." but this is starting to look like it might actually be happening! If Jordan can distribute some I will work my hands to the bone just to save up enough money to buy one... count me in! This is a dream come true!

Anyone besides me notice it is case positive? That's right, the case is tied to the cathode. Also, the beam specs aren't that great from the data sheet. Still, it is a unique color for a diode, even if it can't be as nice as the argon. I'll have to think about it for awhile before i will pull the trigger.

You contradicted yourself-cathode is the negative end :)

I have my skepticisms as well, but lets see what happens. though ultimately I have a lab DECSL so a regular diode would just be an academic pursuit or novelty for me at this point.

Count me in boys.

Edit: Just so everyone is aware, as someone who got his hands on one of the 473nm diodes styropyro got a while back, these will probably fluctuate wavelength a good bit per power. The more you give them, the greener they'll be.

___

Could you also ask about 473nm diodes? I miss having my high wavelength 473... ~480nm is a marvelous color. I like it much more than 488.

I just shined all my lasers and looks like I have a pretty complete rainbow. Apart for 488nm that is :D

I'd get one even though I prefer 473 over 488. Having 473 in non-DPSS form would be nice.

They do not have any 473nm diodes. :(

Re: Holy @#$%... $120 488nm diode!!

I would think DTR can get them directly from Osram as easily as anyone else. DTR is a legit diode business.

The Semicom Visual UK guys have no stock and say min order in 10 pieces lead time 1 week so I would guess 10 pieces is minimum from Osram also.

Why use a middle man if not necessary

Dang, worth a shot. I miss that 473nm diode :cryyy:

DTR, regarding Encap's idea, is that something you think you could try? That could be one hell of a source.
