I'm totally in if this turns out to be legit. Is the divergence spec good? I don't really know how to read it in the deg format.

Edit: Compared the divergence to the PL520 datasheet and seems be about the same, maybe a bit worse.

How impressive would this be at <100mW? I'd definitely be interested, but that type of power doesn't seem like it would be anything special to look at.

It's special because of the colour. 100mW should be enough for anyone.

Well, if you're talking about brightness, it'll definitely have a clearly visible beam. But I hear a lot of people say that 488 and 589 are two of the most beautiful laser colors (in any order :D) and I'm inclined to agree. 488 is just such a wonderful color, exactly between green and blue. The first time I saw it (yesterday :p) my jaw dropped.

It does look like a gorgeous color. That's why I'm wanting a 462 or 473 right now, I'm trying to get a better looking blue!

From my experience the difference between 462 and 445/450 is barely noticeable. If you're going for high power and nice color, get a NUBM07E. If you want lower power and fantastic color, wait for these diodes. :)

Man this is awesome. :D I don't even care what the mode, divergence, and power are, I need this for my collection. :D First laser I ever saw was actually a 488. It was an argon on display at a science museum. :) Have never had one in my collection though. I'll definitely be down for one if there is a GB. Will get someone else to do the build though, not going to risk another solder sculpture with this diode. :D

These would be pretty awesome. Will look into it.

Did you see the PM that I sent you? It has the email of the guy I contacted.

I'm hoping these become a reality. We'd finally have a diode truly bridging the gap between blue and green. Only sad thing is how these would probably mark the official death of argon lasers(Oh wait, that's not sad).

Figures that I bought an argon just days before I bought these. Still, I love multiline lasers. And I can add 8 more wavelengths to my collection ;)

So it is lasing on all 8 lines? :D

OK ... SO not this thread, but we do need pictures. :p

Gas still beats diode any day for beam specs and awesomeness ... :D

Yes, it is lasing on all 8. I don't know what 2 of them are, though. :p
There are a couple of pictures of it on the "Enchanted Beams Thread" in multimedia. I'll be making a proper thread for it once I get my controller.

Awesome! Replied to the other thread ... Get this one back on topic.

Was thinking of going for a 462nm build but might need to keep my money for one of these now...
