I've got a better idea. How about you don't respond to the spam posts in the first place?

Re: Holy @#$%... $120 488nm diode!!

Messaged them this morning saying I had not gotten any updates and they emailed back today first saying I would have to pay first before they order. I stared in disbelief at the messag for a few minutes before responding. I paid 13 days ago one day shy of the two weeks they dropped on me after sending a message saying "I paid your invoice when will it be shipping" and then responding to that dropping the two weeks lead time for them to go buy the stock. My response was not very pleasant but basically stating that I had paid 13 days ago and don't understand why they would not have ordered the diodes yet as I expected a tracking number today or tomorrow based on the lead time they sprung on me after paying. Also then let them have it for running a business where they list products they don't actually have in stock ready to ship instead using customer funds to go out and purchase stock, wait for it to be shipped to them and then ship to the customer. Then they emailed back and asked what paypal account they had used. I was like the one you sent the invoice from. Getting really aggravated at this point and sending a screenshot of the cleared paid payment from the 16th. Then they reply sorry the invoice was sent from a different paypal than the one they normally watch and then went on to say they found the payment but it was on hold which it would show in both our systems if that was the case and quickly had my paypal business repp confirm there had not been any hold on the payment and it was clear as soon as it was sent. Then not responding to the calling them out on any of their stuff they said they "have no fear we will get it worked out". Fear was not the thought process I was having. This thing stinks so bad of either complete incompetence from this company, stalling tactics or a straight scam. After that last message they have not responded for the rest of the day as most this back and fourth was very early this morning. Anyway as you can tell this is not going to smooth and this company so far has been worse than some of the shadiest china vendors.

Darn, that's not good. They really need to get their act together. How many diodes did you order on the 16th?

Had a feeling it was too good to be true. Sorry this is going the way it is, Jordan.

Yikes! DTR, give them about one more week but if after then they still haven't send over the shipment get a refund. If a company states a "2 week leadtime" then that's what it should be. Not, 3 weeks or 4 weeks! :yh:

Doesn't sound too good--they don't know what they are doing. They want to use your money to fund their business and give you a bunch of daydreams about your order.

Maybe contact this Canadian Osram distributor---is worth asking them for a quote on the same quantity of same diode for comparison purposes.

I asked about 3 months ago; their price was $1000 a diode.

@Hap - I'd give them a little longer - if this turns out being real, we don't want to miss out (even if the service is crappy.)

Re: Holy @#$%... $120 488nm diode!!

Yeah I'm not sure if it were me in DTR's shoes how much longer I'd be giving them. While a 488nm handheld sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me, I don't think it's worth getting ripped off over. Especially if this is just the early horizon of 488nm diodes coming out.

If he's sticking it out and it turns out they are legit, I'll definitely want one still, but my expectations at this point are about as low as they can get from this company.

Re: Holy @#$%... $120 488nm diode!!

Going out on a limb here, but sounds like a giant scam to me now. Not only have I noticed that scammers don't seem to give a crap about gaining loyalty (which you would think is necessary to scam) but they seem to be extending and delaying further and further each time, which sounds like all scammers I've heard of (and one in particular but not naming names ;))

Also, what company in their right mind would sell a 488nm diode for $100?

488nm is not the only rare wavelength diode out there. There's 625nm diodes floating around as well.

I am going to try and call these people up on the phone tomorrow. I will record the call, and if it has anything meaningful I'll post it.

Re: Holy @#$%... $120 488nm diode!!

If you look on OSRAM's website here Cyan Laser | Visible Laser | OSRAM Opto Semiconductors
you will see that the diodes are in the preliminary stage, which means OSRAM is not in full production of these diodes yet. The company Sta emailed called "semicom" is nowhere to be found on OSRAM's website which is fishy to me. I emailed the supplier portal on OSRAM's website to get to the bottom of it. If I can get into contact with OSRAM I will be sure to let you all know.

Re: Holy @#$%... $120 488nm diode!!

I agree it sounds fishy but this might be our only chance of getting 488nm diodes for a while, so I'd say give them a bit more time. If they still refuse to send the diodes file a PP claim.
