Double check 445nm components?

Hey everyone, i need a bit of help, i am new to making lasers, i am OK with electronics though, i have some parts in mind for a 445nm build, but i, not sure if i am missing something? if someone knows of a part i am missing or a part i don't need please don't hesitate to let me know as ill be ordering the parts at the end of this week

driver, but which setting for a M-140? 1.25/1.5 or 1.8A? i want the high power,but don't want my diode to burn out too quickly, do i have a big enough heat sink even for a 1.5/1.8A rating? (will be disabling soft start)- http://lazerer.com/Power Buck 2A Switching Driver for 445nm 405nm Laser Diode

apart from safety glasses, what other components am i missing here??? am i missing the obvious?, if people could please give me their best recommendations would be really appreciated, i cant wait to start building, i love the look of the silver host, but if the C6's layout and heat sink is best then i will go for that...

If you go with the C6 I would suggest the 1.2A or maybe the 1.5A setting or any of them up to 1.8A with the stainless. I recommend that based on being able to keep a decent duty cycle in the host you go with.

You will still need batteries and a charger and obviously all the soldering accessories/tools to do the job. Other than that you list seem pretty complete. I did not see you link a pair of glasses and you can get them from SL as well.

i will more than likely TRY within budget get the stainless steel one as it is very nice, which lens do i go for as well? is there any recommendation on your behalf?

the actual lens, how does it fit into the heat sink? ive have looked at other heat sinks and am a bit stumped, i am sure when i have the pieces they will all make sense,but does it just slot in or is it threaded in?

Are you asking between the G-2 and the three element lens? If so there really is no better lens it is all personal preference. The three element lens will have the lowest divergence meaning the line will be smaller but the process of correcting the beam will cause a significant amount of power loss and there is some splash that is a byproduct of the correction. The G-2 will put out quite a bit more power and will have less splash but the divergence is uncorrected and of course it costs 4X as much.

If you go with the G2 lens, get it from DTR too, it is half as much as SL

i think theres been a confusion, it was either the $6 one from SL the AR coated 405-445nm, OR the three element lens for $8? which is better out of those two? i dont really know much about lenses, apart from the G1 and G2 are intense if you want real powder, sadly i dont have $45 to spend on a very small bit of glass,maybe in the future when i properly get into this hobby!!

I'm not sure, but I think the SL AR 405-445 IS a 3 element lens.

Your link for the lens in the OP doesnt work...

If they are three element lenses they are probably the same but I list them with free shipping and his site adds shipping at checkout so the price is really comparable.

I thought you were looking at the unit in a module with leads. There are combo options with the diode in module with leads and lenses.

so DTR, what driver do you recommend the most? yous aid about 1.8amps with the stainless steel host due to its copper heat sink?

OK guys, I have ordered :'), at a stupid cost for my first build, one of DTRS M140 445nm diode in housing with three element glass lens (I'm hoping for some good stuff DTR haha, oh DTR the lens, will you focus it to get a nice narrorw beam? I'd love to have a thin beam) then I've ordered from survival laser the very nice simple looking stainless steel host, then I've ordered the 1.5A buck driver from lazerer with out soft start I didn't fancy the 1.8A or 2A for my first build just incase it was too powerful, I can always upgrade in the future though? obviously some glasses and battery aswell what does everyone think about that for my first build? Set me back quite a bit but it will be fun and can always sell it in the future :')

Looks like you did just fine. The lens is fully adjustable so you don't have to worry about how it is set when you get it.:beer:

oh brilliant, what kind of output in mW would i be looking with this set up? i dont have a laser meter yet, next investment :')
